Na mate, it was 3 maybe 4 player, with steering wheels. Formula 1 style cars & a race track, usuaually a shortcut was available to get through & you collected poerups theough the stages yo buy better acceleration, brakes, top speed. Was a cracking game.

Haha, remember the karate one with 2 joy sticks?
Sega rally was good & the star wars one where you had to blow up the death star, for the sit in ones - but they were dearer!
Return of the Jedi, when the wee ewoks would declare you to "now be a part of the tribe" lol

I'm usually not too bad when it comes to arcade game IDs. That sounds like it could be Bad Lands:

Or Super Sprint or one of its sequels:

Hot Rod was released on Sega's System 24 boards. It's been a while since I last downloaded an updated version of MAME. The last version I downloaded didn't have the System 24 games emulated yet but I thinks they've managed to emulate it by now. I first downloaded MAME (Multi Arcade Machine Emulator) in 2001. I was both happy and disappointed with it. Happy I could play most of my arcade favourites at home but sad that they didn't have Hot Rod emulated at that point. MAME started off emulating 6 arcade games, now it supports thousands. Don't ever go to the forum on their homepage though, they are quite a hostile bunch when you dare ask about the games it runs. I once asked about Hot Rod and was told to go find out for myself.

Although many Sega console games started off as Arcade games (when I first downloaded MAME I discovered that a lot of my Master System games like Action Fighter and Fantasy Zone had been arcade games) Streets of Rage wasn't one of them.
