one of my favorite non celtic players would have to be dennis the menace Bergkamp.Unbelievable first touch and finishing.

I also think that Messi will be up there in a few years time as he has it all and at such a young age.I'm also amazed that Eusebio hasn't been mentioned

i firmly believe henkes right up there just think of the attributes he possesed.

    great passing-great vision-incredible in the air-agility-good dribbler-two footed-incredibly strong-incredible work ethic-poacher-deceptively quick

a lot of the players mentioned never possesed all of these attributes and those who did were not on a different level from henrik larsson.....

we will never again see his likes in the hoops, with henke you never expected him to turn it on you knew he would.

yes he was a great striker but for me he was an incredible football player.

the greatest finsisher is alrsson undoubtedly, better than 90% of the strikers mentioned.....when you talk about finishing, he was probably one of the best ever, along with pele....no doubt. the accuracy of larssons headers was frightening. of course there are other strikers that are pacier, stronger, and perhaps do alot of othe things,.......but surely no one can say larsson wasn't the best finisher....

there have been so many wonderful strikers through the years and henriks right up there alongside them. he's certainly been the best we've had in a long long time.

The thing which Henrik had over and above so many other players (outwith his amazing ability) was that he was gifted with a brilliant football brain. If you watched him off the ball he was moving a good 2 -3 secs before a lot of defenders would as he just seemed to know where the ball was going, or how to pull a defender out of position to make space for another player. Henrik was unique in Scotland in that we'd never seen anyone with all the gifts in the one package. Henrik really was that "once in a lifteime" player imho and it'll be a long time before we see his like again at CP.

One thing about strikers though and it's a cliche but 100% true. Doesn't matter how good a finisher you are if you don't have the people around you giving the service, making space for you etc...it all counts for sweet F.A.

Oh and from today's crop I really like that boy Torres....two great feet, amazing balance for a big lad, strong, fast and isn't afraid to take a tackle. Best bit of business Rafa ever will do, no doubt about it. That boy can score for fun..how I'd love to see him in the Hoops :celt_2:

If this was done on other football forums say in italy england france germany and spain do you think henrik would get a mention? Would neutral fans recognise his quality?

Barca and Man U fans do....no doubt about that but outwith them I think you'd be hard pushed to find anyone who'd mention him....sarcrilidges if you ask me but not surprising considering our lack of global TV coverage either.

anyone who plays in the SPL will never get the recognition that they deserve, even though henke scored at 3 world cups and 2 european championships, is in the top ten scorers ever in uefa club competitions. it was only when he went on loan to man utd that poeople down south gave him any credit, snobbery. although i honestly think that larsson and brian laudrup are the only players who've played in the SPL that i would consider world class

we have plenty of scouts so i'm sure WGS has a good idea about what players are out there but whats the chances of finding another henke or lubo? two absolute freaks, in the nicest sense of the word, who when first signed not even the most optimistic tic fan fan wouldn't have guessed how great they would be. i hadn't even heard of lubo tbh

man u fans would be having a field day here, they rate larsson but would not be happy no cantona or law, and the way ronaldo is treated
