We're not gonna get a loan in the last year of his contract when people are offering money.

The guys been outstanding for Wales. Only making himself a more attractive prospect to the EPL clubs circling. If Liverpool are knocking back £8m offers then we have no hope in *. End of. Move on.

He could effectively force a move here. Say Liverpool accept bids of £8m+ from 3 English teams, but he wants to come here to link up with Rodgers and Davies again, and we stretch it (by our standards) and offer say £5m. He could refuse to talk to the English teams, and if Liverpool wanted decent money for him before his contract's up, they'd have to either accept our bid or try their luck in January, when he'd probably only sign a pre-contract somewhere anyway.

Wages would be a massive stumbling block. It's not happening. Maybe January on loan if he moves to a big club and it goes * up.

I've actually came round to liking him as a player after watching these Euros. No doubting his ability.

However if this is even remotely possible, I still have doubts over whether spending a large proportion of the budget on him would be a good idea.

I think if we are going to spend a serious bit of cash on a player it has to be a match winner or someone who can produce a bit of magic from nowhere. Is Allen that player? I don't think so.

No denying his ability and if we were a club that was in the position to throw £6m + at a player and not give a * whether it works out or not I'd be all for it. However we aren't, unless Desmond is going to make a phenomenal switch in policy, which I doubt.

    I don't think that's what we need.

This group of players, even under Ronny, were always capable of scoring goals.

We need some steel in the middle of the park. He provides that.

I think it's wishful thinking though. His price has been going up by millions with each passing Euro game. He is well out of our range.

See, I don't think he even does that.

He isn't a little weakling or anything as his height and build would suggest but at the same time he is not a natural defensive midfielder, which is the one thing I think we do need.

I agree that steel is needed but I wouldn't put that word alongside Allen. Although at the same time I do think the defensive side of his game is underrated.

I also feel that we do still need some more goals in the side. Last season with Griffiths highlighted that severely.

Watching some of Rodgers' tactical videos, he prefers a ball player in the withdrawn role and two workers slightly forward but willing to get back behind the DM if we lose the ball.

Basically his luxury player is the most withdrawn role.

I would imagine that would be Bitton (if he can pull his socks up), in Scotland at least.

He also talked about the 2/1 (Two DM's and one attacking), that is where he would use Bitton and Allen. That would be our European set up.

Aye, I suppose that would be his idea, with Allen being the main guy keeping it ticking.

Although I'm fully behind whatever he chooses to do, I still personally believe a natural, no holds barred, brick shithouse would help us a lot in Europe.

Even today in that game, McCluskey mentioned it, Biton and Johansen are often found wanting at times and out of position leaving the back 4 massivey exposed
We'd have to rely on them a lot to really stick to their role. I hope they can as I rate both on form.

As you say though I think the chances of getting Allen are slim, very slim. He is a good wee player to watch and I do rate him, whether or not we could afford to go for him is another thing as I say.

I'd still love a Nakamura type or a real quality winger/striker who can make the difference when it matters most, that is basically what I was getting at originally. If we could somehow manage that along with Allen then I'd be the happiest man alive.

United are presumably in for him... Jose could be just trolling Liverpool, either way I think that finally knocks this bullshite on the head...
