I agree, although i think yesterday was a simple case of the guy being off the pace, its a physical league and he hasn't played regular football in a while. This is a guy who has been capped by Germany and was only being kept out of the Sevilla team by a world class player. Hopefully by next season we will have a settled back four with good communication. Yesterday was a joy to watch but too many times at the back we have 2 people going for the same ball and leaving their man wide open, simple mistakes that need to be cut out...........

Great point, Matt.

But these silly mistakes HAVE NOT been stamped out and that is why there is a lack of faith in the manager.

It happens too often and has never been fully solved, or worse, nearly solved!

hinkle did a classic thing for a guy who has hardly played in moths. He played a blinder on muscle memory and then was absolutely rubbish. He probably will be poor for at least 2 or 3 more until he gets match fit. Caddis must have been * off after the blinder he played last week. Surely caddis should get the nod on Saturday with the CL game in mind.

Great post well put Matt. I agree with all of it and Thomobhoy´s reply to it.:50:

You got me thinking though with this sentence. I am not saying he is a bad player as I genunley think he will be a big success. But Correct me if I am wrong, Was it not Juande Ramos the former Sevilla now Spurs manger who had him previously. My point being why would Ramos buy a * RB (Mutton) for 9 mil when he could get a class RB for 2 mill (Hinkel).

Just because you win 5-1 dosen't mean everyone has had a good game, he was not at his best far from it.

That crossed my mind too ellboy, when the deal was going through i thought he may have gazzumped us.
Thing is though i don't think mutton is *, in fact i've said for quite some time he's a bit of a player. I honestly believe he's the best full back Scotland have produced since McGrain.
Roll on the onslaught.:RedFinger

Don't know about the McGrain comparison but totally agree that Mutton was a top player, was glad to see him leave and his departure gave me more hope of winning the title.

Rony has been playing * lately irvy, ihope i don't end up with egg on my face as he has great ability, but for me Messi is the man to watch, with Iniesta closely following.

Im not meaning he is as good as mcgrain CE, just that he's the next best thing, if we could have paid 8M for a player of his ability and he stayed for the bulk of his carreer, i'd deam it good business.

Mutton has had a meteoric six months. But he still is a dodgy defender. For me 9 mil for six months good work is unreal. I just think if Ramos realy rated Hinkel he would have gazzumped us for him as you say as hopefuly Hinkel is not 7 milion worse of a player than Mutton.Otherwise we might have another Cadwell on our hands,* for bid.:84:

The thing is Ellboy i don't think within EPL reason money is the issue, he wouldn't have been thinking is Hutton 7M worth better than Hinkle, he'd simply have thought is he better. His answer was obviously yes it appears.
I also think Rangers fans were being hard on Hutton last year, every time i've watched him against us i've been impressed.
On the caldwell thing, ask yourself, would GC have earned 17 caps if he were German, and would he earn a cash transfer to Seville.
He might not be as good as hutton, but, he might be better. But he can't be worse than Caldwell.
Time will tell though Ellboy.:50:

As you say EPL money is ridiculous and you are probably right Ramos wasnt weighing up weather or not hutton was worth the extra money. However for another 2 mil he could have had both of them.

I also agree with you on your comparison to caldwell i.e caps and a move to Seville. And I also share you belief that Hinkel will turn out to be a fine player for us.:50:

In regards to hutton last year he didnt get a game til PLG got the boot and for 3 months he was decent. However nowere near the level he showed this season in an attacking sense.

At Spurs,Damien Comolli does the trasfer dealings, not the manager.I think the manager just says he wants a certain position strengthened and Commolli identifies a target and brings him to the club.I think this would explain Ramos' surprised reaction when asked about Hutton.
It's a more continental way of doing things.

I think he looked a bit ponderous on the ball at times, but looked composed any time he had a bit of space, I think once he gets used to the fact that you don’t get as much time on the ball in the SPL as you do on the continent then he will be a smashing player. I also think we will see the best of him in European games. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

I've been really disappointed with Ronaldinho every time I've seen him live. As with Lubo, I hope he doesn't prove me wrong next week :87:
