Im just back from the pub with my mates and we had been talking about our teams transfer activities (ones a livi fan,the others a hearts fan),well they both told me that the news going round is that we're going to go in for robert snodgrass of livi and hearts velicka,i dont know how much truth is in this so please dont shoot me down lol.
IMO i dont see much point in going for the kid snodgrass but ive been told by my mate that hes one to watch out for the future! And im not to sure about going for velicka, dont see where he would fit in.

If the budget is tight I wouldn't say no to Velicka.

He could be the target man we need. Holds the ball up better than Jan, is more mobile and a better finisher than Killen. Scored a couple of fantastic goals at CP to knock us out of the CIS Cup.

Romanov wants £4.75 million for Velicka..
I'd be prepared to give him Pressley and a hundred grand..

Haven't seen anything of Snodgrass to make a judgement on his ability. The squad needs bolstering but not just faces to make up the numbers..

Can't really imagine he's better than anything we've got at the moment..

I think Velicka would be ideal big, strong and has an eye for goal. He would do for me.

It has been on the radio before that Velicka was being watched by Celtic and could be signed this January but I dont think he would improve the squad. I would maybe buy snodgrass as he was the Livi player that Barcelona were looking at before but obviously depends on the price.

    4.75m? ffs no danger.

I was thinking more along the lines of 800,000 to 1m.

Snodgrass was a target for Barcelona a couple of years ago, has talent, but don't know if he's for us tbh. Velicka is a player I like. Strong, pacey, and can score goals.

Actually think Im wrong.. It might have been £3.75 million he was quoted but may have been a reason because of English clubs being full of money (Or Romanov being full of *)..
Bolton and Fulham were linked with Cousin and when it broke that he was having talks with Fulham , Bolton were linked with Velicka and the £3.75 million was quoted..

    4.75 million!
should be more along the lines of 475,000
Velicka isn't a very good striker, he just looks half decent cause all the other Hearts players are rubbish!

I would never be against us signing young Scottish talent i seen a bit of him in the U20 world cup my memories are vague but im sure he was a bench warmer as well would much rather us go for Graham Dorrans that would make sense to me & Velicka is a good player i wouldn't be gutted if we signed him he isn't a big name but he will certainly do a job for us but anything higher than 1mill they can GTF though.

Just wanting to know if i am looking at transfer rumours for Celtic or for some other JUNIOR team called Celtic, Why should a club of the stature of Celtic be going for Robert Snodgrass who played for Livi or some guy called Dorrans who was also crap. We are bringing young kids through the reserves and they can't get a game (Teddy Bjarnson) for example and you are saying we should be going for some no talent players from lower scottish leagues. Velicka is not a bad player but would not enhance the squad and if we want to win the league and at least have a chance of progressing in the champions league we need to be looking at a higher calibre of player than the players mentioned on this thread.

Still can't imagine why anybody is talking about these players, Let me know if i have read this wrong.

I tell you what i will let you know this is reality! NO TALENT!!! NO TALENT your so narrow minded its * unreal these are young guys with bags of potential jus because we have our youth system doesn't mean it has better youngsters as stated he was linked with Barca only linked but still that is guarantee there is potential yes we would all like to see higher profile players come to the club but since you obviously havent noticed we arent capable of signing players with big reputations with high price tags and wages wake up and come to reality these players could do a job for us in our bread and butter the league.

Sooner you realise these are the type of player we will be looking at the better i too was hoping for bigger names but iv realised they wont come much bigger than this maybe a samaras if where lucky.

Ive been thinking about this quite a bit since starting this thread, and im starting to think signing the guy snodgrass might not be as bad as it seems,ok he may play with a lower 1st division team but he was linked with barca, which i never knew before tonight so he must have talent so maybe he would be a good investment for the future:50:
I have to agree with you mcculloch1888 mate,we've gotta realise we cant compete with the ridiculous wages in the EPL and maybe we're gonna have to invest in guys like snodgrass etc that have the potential to be the future of celtic and bring success to the club. Like you also said,id love for us to sign a big name player but sadly i dont see it

Have any of you really seen any of these guys playing, I have seen both playing a few times and they are not good enough to get a game for our reserves. I know that we can't go out and spend massive amounts of money and attract the biggest players but if you really thing that these two guys are the answer then you are obviously easily pleased. There is a big market out there with lots of potenial if you ge the right scouting people in place to find the right players (both old and young) at the right price. Snodgrass has only ever been famous for being linked with Barca (supposedly - his dad is a sports journalist) and Livi were looking to free him not too long ago.
I think you both need to aim a little higher as maybe you could get a job with the board if this is your signing targets.
