Those were the figure leaked to the Dutch media possibly by his agent. They may not be accurate but those are the figures reported. And yes it does prove my point.

Out of interest, how much more do you think the board should invest in the team?

I honestly don't buy that at all.

Guidetti was 22/23 years old when he came to us, and if he were performing to the level that some on here deemed him capable of I have no doubt Lawwell would have happily paid the numbers you've mentioned, if only because we'd likely have seen a return of around treble that in a few years time.

The feeling I got from reading what Guidetti had to say was that he was more interested in seeing what other options he had from elsewhere before committing to anything.

It's not just the Gudetti example. Look at the Pukki window he still spent but spent on 4th or 5th choice players because he would not go the extra mile to get the players we needed e.g Finboggoson was the player we really wanted and with all the CL cash he could have done that deal easily. Instead he chose to sign two strikers instead of the one striker we needed.

We've been down this road before when it comes to the Finnbogason chat.

To say that Lawwell could simply have done the Finnbogason deal as though it's some sort of Football Manager-esque computer game is naive to say the least. You honestly believe that it was simply a case of matching what Heerenveen were asking and the player automatically signs for us?

First of all, Heerenveen wanted at least €10 million for him, which isn't a kick in the * away from £8 million. They knocked back a bid of £7.5 million from Fulham before they sold him to Sociedad.

Second, the man himself was quoted saying "I will listen to every club who comes to an agreement with Heerenveen and then, we’ll see.”

These clubs included Real Sociedad, Fulham, Newcastle, Roma and Everton.

Even if Lawwell had matched the €10 million asking price, there's no guarantee he'd have come here. In fact, I seriously doubt he would have considering he had excellent offers from Serie A, La Liga and the EPL.

This thinking that if we simply bid more money for players that we'll automatically sign them does my box in, as it's not the case at all. There are many different factors that play a part in a transfer, especially when you're talking about a guy drawing interest from some of Europe's bigger leagues.

Not necessarily. There are businessmen the globe over that own/have significant shares in clubs outwith the EPL or even the other big leagues - look at Austria, Eastern European teams, Turkey and Russia. There's multi-millionaires and billionaires buying in the Portuguese league too. Many of these guys have no connection to the clubs either.

Not everyone can own a team in the EPL and not everyone can own a big team. Celtic is a relatively big club worldwide and can be bought for much less than many smaller clubs, due to our unique (but unfortunate) position in the Scottish market.

Having a club is a status symbol, many owners don't buy with the intent to make money, merely have it as a status symbol - much like DD with us. Except DD doesn't want full control and can't invest any decent sum in us. Not to mention he doesn't really care all that much for us, day to day.

Would I want us to be at the mercy of some billionaire - I don't know, it can have its positives and negatives. But to say there would be no benefits for a billionaire owning Celtic is mad.

Is it the Managers decision on who gets signed, ask Scott Allan. Many believe it was Lawwell's idea, Deila is reluctant to play the guy, so who signed him ???

    the board are tight arses

    to much *-yising/gazing or whatever

the commons, kayal, ki, hooper, vvd, bitton, wanyama, ledley, denayer

are obviously a better class than bangura, balde, fridjonnson, boyata, armstrong, gms

neil lennon was able to get some good free signings in ledley and mathews and hooper is/was our best striker since Henrik larsson, he knew the kind of player he wanted at celtic and top quality player

i know lenny loved our club and would fight against the board being cheap probably the reason why he * off

ronnie good guy that he is, is to soft and is being or should i say allowing himself to be managed by lawell and taking far too much of the blame

they say a good workman never blames his tools but i would say he should if it wasn't him that bought the tools and if its true that ronnie is given a list of cheapo signings to pick from there's the answer to the problems of our recent signings being *

No a compliant worker never blames his tools. A good worker uses the best and most efficient tools to get the job done.

I think people should just stop trying to make analogies in regards to football, they rarely work.

Re-word it any way you want. It still makes no sense.
