Certain managers don't like certain players. Ronny didn't fancy Stokes.
    Maybe Brendan dozen't fancy Roberts.
    Could be that simple.

    Well you don't know that.
It is as good a reason as any.

It's too early to predict anything about Rodgers' opinion of Roberts.

I don't think he doesn't rate him. I think that would be a silly thing to suggest.

I mean, surely not? He knows his football and anyone can see Roberts has talent. I don't see why he would pick the likes of Forrest, Christie etc over him.

In saying that, it certainly is a bit weird why he hasn't started etc.

It's a complete mystery. He wasn't in the "first team" during the friendlies and never even got on tonight, somehow.

Utterly baffling. He's one of few players in our squad who can produce a moment of magic and score out of nothing.

    He should start next week.

The worrying thing is he trusted James Forrest to come on and change the game before he did Roberts.

I got pelters a few pages back when I said Rodgers didn't rate Roberts as highly as the fans.

Personally I think he should start next week and show what he can do

Unless he was injured - this was poor selection. Early days but slightly worrying signs of BR.

Stunned, absolutely stunned at the treatment of Roberts so far from Brendan and I'm very disappointed. The one player who could have dug us out a hole and he isn't even giving him a minute on the park. I thought he'd be right up Brendans street but I warned folk on here something wasn't right in the way Brendan wasn't even giving him a start in pre season.

It could be that Man City have said they don't want Patrick playing on plastic surfaces full stop to protect him but I doubt he would have even been on the bench if that the case. I think this is a case of Brendan trying to find a place in his team for Griffiths after the season he had last year and has decided to accommodate him on the right wing to make way for Dembele through the centre which then basically takes that position away from Roberts and I'm guessing Brendan doesn't see him as a LW.

I'll tell you what though, If Brendan hasn't realised yet that Griffiths is never a RW and doesn't find a place in his starting 11 next week for Roberts then serious questions have to be raised at why he's leaving out such a talent that we're lucky to have for 18 months out the side when he could be helping us through these stages. Roberts would tear this mob to shreds himself but hopefully the penny will have dropped for Brendan and he'll find a place in his team for him next week.

That part is definitely true. I don't think Rodgers fancies Griffiths as the striker in a 433 or 4231, so he's trying to accommodate him in whatever way he can, which is just stupid because he's * anywhere other than through the middle.

However the most worrying thing is Roberts wasn't one of the 3 subs brought on.

I'm confident Roberts will be back in the team soon, he simply has to be, surely?

He could rescue this tie for us on his own, that's how good he is and can be for us.

Brendan needs to grow a pair and decide if he's going to play one up front it's either Dembele or Griffiths. No more trying to accommodate Griffiths on the RW because it isn't working and is preventing us from using one of our most important and effective players.

Brendan said he watched all the games we had last season and all the goals we scored, surely then he would have seen the impact Roberts had here at the end of last season?

I'd rather he went 2 up front tbh, but for me, Griff would not be my striker going into Europe, yeah he probably will hit the net next week against this outfit, but we'll go with 1 up front if by some miracle we do qualify (mind you we may get in Europa) and for me that'd be Dembele.

Griff is a great wee domestic scorer, but for me he just looks lost in Europe. Maybe BR will develop him, I don't know but just what I've saw from him.

Maybe he should just went for Roberts as opposed to Griff, full stop.

You forgetting Roberts missed an open goal against Rangers ?
I mean right in front of a 24ft wide goal.
    I mean,how can you miss that ?
You don't think Rodgers seen that ?

I've seen far better players than Roberts miss an open goal. It happens.

The fact of the matter is, Roberts has more ability than anyone else in our squad. He should be one of the first names on the team sheet.

It happens, the best players in the world miss sitters and they don't suddenly get dropped.

If Brendan really has looked at that miss against Sevco and decided Roberts is never going to get into his team because of that then I'd go as far to say that Brendan is a *, clueless manager. However, I very highly doubt in fact I'm practically 100% certain that isn't the case.
