    I don't know the historical context that well - maybe a Catholic monarchy would've been preferable at certain points in the past if it were a straight up choice between, say, a Catholic or Protestant monarchy in England, as was the case in question (given the persecution of Catholics during Elizabeth's reign) but I'm a republican; the idea that someone can have dominion over anyone else is completely absurd to me, so I could never support it.
