Totally agree with all the above. Lafferty would be a total joke of a signing especially with the inflated prices down there.
Watched the Burnley Arsenal game today too and that just reinforced my view that Lafferty offers nothing we don't already have plenty of in VOH and Killen as his back up and even young Sheridan in the reserves.

:60: here here, that's crazy what they ask for. You can find better players for cheaper outside England.

He's Overpriced and a mediocre player, Riordan is a much better player!
Would rather we concentrated on finding a new CB!
Who remembers our last player from Burnley????!!!

A good source has told me that Burnley acceptated a 2.2 million offer around 17:00 but Lafferty told them he would not move to Celtic FC.

    Lafferty keen on Celtic switch

Burnley striker Kyle Lafferty, a long-term transfer target for Celtic, admits a move to Scotland could be the next logical step in his career.

The 20-year-old Northern Ireland international was the subject of a failed bid from Celtic last year and the Hoops have again been linked with the Clarets frontman.

Lafferty was sent off in Burnley's FA Cup third-round defeat to Arsenal on Sunday.

He hopes to play in the Premier League at some stage in his career but admits it may be too soon to step up to that level.

"It may be that I might have to consider staying at Burnley or even moving to Scotland," he said. "I will leave it up to my club, but if an offer came in from Celtic and Burnley accepted it, I would give it due consideration."

Former Northern Ireland captain Neil Lennon quit international football after his move to Celtic provoked sectarian abuse, which reached a head when he was the subject of a death threat.

Lafferty said: "Obviously, I am aware of what happened to Neil Lennon from Northern Ireland when he joined Celtic from Leicester City. But I am also aware that those days are gone now, thankfully. I know my family will support me no matter what I do.

"I am only 20 and I still have three years left on my Burnley contract. By the age of 23, hopefully, I will be a better, stronger player, I'll have developed more and maybe that might be the time to consider my future."

This is bullshit. He is not going to Celtic Park. His agent is throwing this story out there to get his name in a paper. Some of us think he might be trying to move his way to Derby, Rangers or a better championship club.

pureThis guy stands to get the sort of dangerious grief that Lenny and his family got but even worse because he is from a protestant northern Irish family and will be treated like a traitor by some knuckledraggers. Its hardly his fault. You do not choose what community you are born in in Northern Ireland and you are very niave if you think you can simply cross barriers easily and safely. He knows what he is putting on the line for him and the family he leaves back in Ireland and if he comes here he should praised to the high heavens for being a really strong charcter and very brave.

must admit I have never watched the guy and the only thing I know is that he is northern Irish and a big guy. I saw an article with a photo that made him look Craig Brewsters age. Either the photo was wrong or he has had a hard life:icon_mrgreen:
