I think he'll do ok, in Scotland at least.

He's been very poor in the games he's played so far even when you take into account his lack of match fitness etc. but it's far too early to write him off.

I voted yes as given his lengthy suspension he really has not had a chance to really settle into the team yet. Given we only have Griffiths and Stokes now as other front line strikers Ciftci will certainly get his chances. Its up to him to take them and lets hope now that his suspension is done he comes out really chomping at the bit:smiley-laughing002: Sorry couldn't resist that last sentence:icon_mrgreen:

He's not had a chance yet but yes he will definitely be a good signing for us. He's a very clever footballer and has everything already, which will only improve under Delia.

People shouldn't judge him by the couple of pre season games/qualifiers.

He was good for Dundee Utd against other SPL teams... including us!

He clearly has the ability - it's now down to Deila to make him fit.

I think he was bought to suit our system rather than to be the guy scoring 30 goals a season. If Griffiths keeps up his current form he'll never shift him. Expect him to be third choice striker next season when we get Ibra

Far, far too early to make an informed decision. So I am going no.

Don't normally write players off this quick but I just don't see it happening for the guy.

Would be happy to be proved wrong though, but I just get a gut feeling he'll be the next flop out the door

Big Sutton has an article in the Daylate Record, spot on as usual saying that we should give him a go up top feeding Griff. I couldnt agree more this will take a heap of pressure of him too with the added bonus of us playing the correct system.

He played as a lone striker with Dundee Utd, in a similar system to the one we play.

How's it the 'correct system'? There is no correct system, just depends who and where we are playing. He played lone striker at United and done well, shouldn't be a problem for him here.

I dont care about Dundee Utd and I didnt say he couldnt play as a single striker. Big Sutton was saying to play him up top with Griff. Griff playing on the shoulder and Ciftci dropping deeper and feeding him. You cant argue with that logic. Or we could let him sit on the bench behind griff making the pressure build on him if the goals dont come.

We have three strikers at the club so an injury to Leigh is an emergency. Simple as that. Leigh should not be dropped therefore if we persist with playing 1 up top then Ciftcis chances will be limited effecting his confidence. Switching to the diamond will help him settle into the side with the pressure off him, it will also help protect our new defense. Tactically this is what we should be playing in the short term to help us ease into the season.

After the defence is used to each other and Ciftci gets a chance and some game time then we can switch back to the 4231. You cannot argue with the logic. It is simply the smart thing to do. In the short term we will be sacrificing width for solidity in the center and will help our new signings bed in. If anyone disagrees with this please explain why we should stick to the present system.
