Before he went to Turkey he was the manager of Rangers and did a lot to make himself a hate figure amongst the Celtic support.

Well, he used to manage a team called rangers, who recently died. You might have heard of our rivalry with them!

Exactly 18 years ago today. Check it out from 2 mins onwards.

A trip for the kebab lovers, got to be better stuff out there than the * Doner I had in Clydebank recently :50:

Smirnoff can point us in the right direction nearer the time :celt_2:

In all seriousness. I would love to do this trip then stay over the weekend for a few more games but looks very unlikely at the moment for me :54:

Hello Celtic fans.I'am 58 year old Fener fan,bit too old for most of you may be:rolleyes:

İstanbul is one of the safest cities in Europe and I don't think there should be any problems travelling to İstanbul as long as you do not get drunk(which I do sometimes) too much:icon_mrgreen:.For those who will stay in hotels on the European part,it is too far away from the stadium and I strongly suggest the hotels in central Kadıköy,near the port. The stadium from those hotels is within walikng distance. There are decent 3 or 4 star hotels and prices shouldn't be expensive.I myself lived in Leeds in the mid 70's for 5 years as a student and had a couple of İrish friends there but unfortunately I lost contact afterwards.

İf you have any questions about İstanbul and Fenerbahçe,I'll gladly answer.

    Best of luck

For those who like döner kebab,I suggest they keep away from places that sell it cheap.Healthwise,go for the expensive places.Doner is served in many different ways. You can either have it in a sandwich,or on it own on a plate .Try the ''İskender'' kebab which is served on a big plate with döner on top and underneath grilled bread pieces and on top, domato souce and butter.Try fish restaurants although some may be quite expensive.

A tip from me,never drink tab water in İstanbul as it contains a lot of chloride.

    Hey there,
Celtic supporter from Russia, I've already booked both tickets to Istanbul and hotel in Top kapı area, so I, d like to know if there is a specific place in Istanbul where Celtic fans are going to hang out :shamrock:?
Also I'd like to ask if someone has spare tickets for the game?

When you say Topkapi,do you mean the Topkapi palace(museum) or the district? They are two different places and quite far away from each other.İf you mean the ''Sultanahmet'' area very close to Topkapi palace, then there are lots of cafes and bars.Although I am not sure but I think most Celtic fans will stay in that area which is quite a long way from the stadium. The game will be during a week day and traffic will be incredible so I suggest the best way is to go to ''Eminonu'' port and catch a passenger boat to Kadıköy.When you get to Kadıköy port you only need to walk less than a kilometer to the ground.

    Good to hear mate :50:

The majority will stay in and around Taksim I'd imagine especially those that arrive day(s) before the game. I've been surprised at the amount of people who have booked up for this game given it's in December. Won't know about tickets until closer to the time.

A few others from Russia come to see Celtic in Europe and one guy also from Almaty in Kazakhstan!

Well guys, I am a fenerbahçe fan. When coming to Istanbul, u should better consider the traffic. Topkapi area is quite far from the stadium. In weekdays it takes 2 or 3 hours to get there. The * staying in taksim should walk to Beşiktaş pier instead of taking a bus or taxi in order to get there on time. Then u can pass the bosphorus by boat. FENERBAHÇE is on the other( east) side of Istanbul..

Thx, then I'll be considering an option of booking a room in a hotel somewhere around Taksim.
Yeah, I know them, though I'm not sure if all of them will come, but there are a lot of bhoys willing to come.

Fener fans, few questions not about the Celtic game.

.....about this Passolig fancard. I know that if you are from abroad you can register online and then buy match tickets when they go on sale, but is it also possible just to go to the stadium the day before, register for fancard there and buy tickets? It’s not for this game but for when my friend is there in November.

Also, Fener I think are playing Red Star Belgrade at Basketball on the Friday after the Celtic game (11 December)? Tickets would be impossible for this, or……?

******The thing is if u have to register the Passolig card via passport. , then u need the card itself to get an e ticket.. With The card without e ticket u can't enter the stadium. So there is a temporary card for who lost or broke their cards and for whose card has not been able to delivered yet. So register 1 day ago buy the e ticket and get the temporary card and transpass..
***For basketball games Passolig is not available. Or needed. So u can get it from the basketball stadium or authorized sellers
