See how it does make sense we're living withing our means, what if a great thing happened and we qualified for the UCL 3 seasons in a row. Is that £60m? With our wage cap and therefore transfer cap what would actually happen to all that money because it seems in our current predicament we wouldn't be able to spend it?

EL has liverpool, spurs, maybe Borussia Dortmund and ajax etc depending on play off round results. Good teams, money might not be as good, but teams are no bad at all.

Theres nothing the board can really do though, its not as if we're sitting on piles of cash to use. We shop at the lower end of the market and buy players who only join us to get moves to other teams, there is no other way to do it and thats just the way it is.

Half the teams in the English Championship clubs can now spend more money than teams like us Basel, Salzburg, Anderlecht and Ajax.

Completely agree with BONOBHOY Sick off no spending proper money to compete with the teams and were a massive European outfit. If we don't have the decency to question our size we shouldn't be a big club at this rate by accepting 2nd best all the time and an sick of it

its not even big players...it was players like Johnny Russell for example.....we just * about far too much and squabble over scraps..

VVD will go,we NEED a full back 4, if he goes for around 12m ....will we actually use any of it now? After all we aint got CL money to rely on..attendances will fall and I doubt unless we get a really good group we will have the upper tier open this season

Its a * joke...so much money in front of us and we wont spend a little to get there

Disillusioned with all this is an understatement now...actually getting the * rage with the board....and not only that I cant honestly judge Delia yet,he hasn't been helped properly at all (as Sutton states)

For example the board take in 10m cash for a player and re-invest 1-2m for a player that they hope they can sell that player in a couple of years time for another 10m and try to get their cash on the CL too where they continue doing the same *.

I understand we play in Scotland but with our support we should be spending on bigger quality players at 4m or look to loan someone with good quality that has affordable wages.

They have to go or change their game plan because clearly having a cheap gamble for the Cl very season that they want isn't worked for the past couple of seasons

So strange ones in here tonight eh?

We get put out by a team with a fraction of our budget after the same happened last year. Blame Ronny? Nah, 100% excusable and he's a nice guy too. The players? Nah, not their fault. The board? * right! Outspending the opposition 10xover isn't nearly enough!

I don't want Ronny to go but he isn't exempt from criticism. I just don't get how people don't get/see that our budget compared to Malmo is huge and we still went out to them, yet its the boards fault.
Taken seriously though , its tragic.

As said in the other thread, the malmo squad costs less than scepovic. They got to the champions league, they scored the goals, they played better on the night (albeit with massive help from a scandalous bit of refereeing!)

Money doesn't guarantee you quality, for me they players didn't turn up tonight. As Sutton repeatedly pointed out, there was no urgency in the play. No risks, no high tempo football, nothing clinical at all. Performances like that in Europe get punished, and that's what happened. It's easy for us to sit here and moan we don't sign players that can 'take us to the next level', but who exactly could we attract that can make us a better European side that will come and ply their trade in a * poor league with no competition.
