Yep alot of sources saying Everton want 3.5million for him, do you think Celtic will pay this? I personally think its not bad and we should make a bid for him as i think he's a cracking player. 3.5million is a decent price tag for him - but i don't think the board/strachan are willing to pay this amount for him.

I would rather like to see him come here on loan, then see how he plays for us in the SPL and if Celtic think hes played well then try and sign him.

Celtic Told Pay £3million For McFadden Or Miss Out

CELTIC are in danger of losing out on Everton striker James McFadden in the transfer window unless they can come up with s3million.
McFadden is keen to join his boyhood heroes but rumours that he could be signed in time to face Rangers on January 2 are wide of the mark.
Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell originally tried to get the Scotland star on loan but Everton boss David Moyes is only interested in a permanent deal.
The transfer fee could be in the region of s3m, with s250,000 of that having to go to McFadden's first club Motherwell as part of a sell-on clause in the agreement that took him to Goodison.
But Middlesbrough, Birmingham, Wigan and Sunderland are all interested in McFadden and Celtic will need to stump up serious money - and soon - or lose out.
The player still has 18 months left on his contract with Everton and Moyes has offered him an extension in spite of starting McFadden in only nine games this season.
Celtic last night did appear closer to landing full-backs Dyego Rocha Coelho and Andreas Hinkel.
Brazilian club Corinthians have confirmed they've agreed a deal to sell 24-year-old Coelho to Celtic.
The player has one cap for his country and would solve the problem created by Mark Wilson's long-term injury difficulties.
Coelho spent part of last season on loan at Atletico Mineiro and Corinthians have decided the offer from Parkhead is too good to refuse.
Eduardo Ratinho's return from a loan spell at CSKA Moscow convinced the Brazilians the time was right to allow Coelho to pursue his dream of a career in Europe.
Coelho would also be available for the Champions League last-16 encounters against AC Milan in February.
Hinkel, right, remains another option for Celtic and they are favourites to land him from Sevilla. The German had been on the brink of signing for Borussia Dortmund but the Spaniards pulled the plug on the deal at the 11th hour.
Celtic are believed to be happy to pay out s2m for the German international - more than Dortmund had offered.
Gordon Strachan has insisted Bobo Balde still has a future at the club if he wants to take up the offer to stay at Celtic Park.
The manager said: "Bobo had the opportunity to go elsewhere in the summer and decided to stay here.
"It is him who decides his future and it's the same with the rest of the players."
Strachan bristled at his weekly press conference when he was asked if he'd any regrets over leaving Balde out for as long as he had done. He said: "Regrets? No. I have to make decisions.
"In 2007 we've won the league, the Scottish Cup and reached the last 16 in the Champions League.
"So far as I'm concerned the last 16 counts as a treble. It's far harder to get into the last 16 than it is to win a cup - a million times harder.
"All of that was done without Bobo. How we ever achieved that I don't know."

Its simple mate look at his scoring record. 10 goals in 100+ matches for Everton. But he is of course isnt a typical goal scoring striker. Sure we could play him in a different role but why? Is he an improvement over anyone on our current squad? Play him on the wing? Have a new formation?

But I forgot that being Scottish makes him more valuable by 2 million. :87:

Its a common theme I see here with the over evaluation of Scottish players and this is no different.

PS Waiting for your response about how he is used mostly as a sub at everton.

scottish players over evaluated. thats a new one. well done! usually its forgine players, infact its ALWAYS foreign players that get over rated. no one wants to see more scots in the team becase foreign names sound more exciting. no one wanted the lad from dundee in the team, yet we're all excited about a brazilian and german, whom, we have never actually seen play a match!!
in those 100 matches- has he always been a striker? or has he been on the left, or in behind the striker?
we could play him in a diffrent role because he CAN play in a diffrent role, inbehind big jan or skippy in the champions leauge away from home? giving us 5 in the middle but good, strong support for the striker.
he can also hit a good dig, which we seriously lack. ( a player with a good dig on him)
would he add to the squad? YES ofcourse he would.
he gives the team a new dimention in which we can be strong in the middle. he also does a no bad job of holding the ball up.
do we or do we not need cover for the left wing?
    deeks on his way.
could we or could we not do with a player who can play in behind the striker?
jiri's probs away in the summer if not sooner, and tbh, aint that good in behind the strikers.
everyones shouting for a new striker.

    sounds perfect for me.

you just about admitted nevr having watched the man play football yet slate him and claim hes worth 1million.

    Picture this:

A few great goals makes him worth the worthlesses he shows at Everton. Trust me I get to see way too many Everton matches Fox Soccer Channel must have a hardon for Everton and all their UEFA Cup matches on Gol Tv. Plus the Scottish euro matches this year... And in the limited times hes been put on for everton he has not shown me that he should be one of the highest paid players on our squad. As he would be because he is on EPL wages.

Different roles formations... When have you seen WGS change his formations? Hardly ever except in away matches in Europe this season.

Your missing the point over evaluation of foreign talent? No. See Im not Scottish!

No way is he on 20k a week. Can I get a link to that? I would be shocked if hes on 20k at one of the middle-larger clubs in England.

It would cost too much in transfer fee and wages when we need a decent midfeilder and a couple of defenders and Mcfadden is neither

he WOULD be on 20k a week. its been in the media here a few times that those are the suggested wages which is more than hes on at everton i'd bet.
why is it such a shock? i doubt hes on 20k a week at everton he was signed at a young age from motherwell!

McFadden would not be a good signing.Over-priced and over-rated.

He would be used as a back up for wingers and strikers, if he got first team play though it would need to be in Hesselinks place.
