    Ironically the last 4 years Rangers were alive we got less coefficient points than the 3 years since they snuffed it lol

    So the Leagues actually improved since they died.

    It certainly isn't a guarantee that Rangers being in the Premiership will get us more coefficient points

    But I'm sure you know that long term they are a better bet for it than an Inverness or a St Johnstone.

    You're confusing the association with the national team. The ranks you are talking about is points gained by Clubs from Scotland, not the national team.

    These are the teams we will NOT get from 3rd rd or play offs.

    3rd rd we will definetely avoid

    Ajax
    Club Brugge
    Monaco
    Young Boys
    Sparta Prague
    Fenerbahce
    Rapid Vienna
    Shaktar Donetsk
    Panathinaikos
    and either CSKA Moscow or Kranador (still 1 match to play on same pts)

    and from play offs we will definitely avoid

    Man Utd
    Valencia
    bayer Leverkusen
    Sporting CP
    Lazio.

    Reason being that all the above teams will go through the League route NOT Champions route.

    That will obviously all change in GS.

    I wish they would make teams play 5 or 6 how grown players, I'm sure that would even things out a bit across Europe. The top leagues would still prosper but other countries would have a better chance I think. Be great for youth development too.

    Sure I worked it out one day that because we have 4 teams in Europe, our collective co-efficient gets divided by 4 to find the avergae and that dictates if we get a group spot or not.

    We either need to hit last 16 5 years on the bounce and hope the rest keep going as is, one of them to do better. Or more likely, tell UEFA we only want one position, so our points tally is only dictated by our actions and we can get in to the groups with enough luck.

    No they don't. National teams have got nothing to do with it.

    I honestly don't know why people find the seeding/coefficient stuff so difficult, every season around this time similar types of misunderstandings get talked about - worse when it's often from the media!

    the way its set up now is bullshit. winners should get in to the CL proper. Platini can * off the same as blatter can.

    The confusion is probably in the way that UEFA word the coefficient standings on their site.

    The club coefficient rankings take into account the results of each club in UEFA club competition and are used to determine a club’s seeding in club competition draws.

    The coefficients – from which the rankings are formed and which are based on performances over the last five seasons – will be updated directly after each completed round of UEFA club competition matches.

    Actually, just reread it.
    I understood it to mean the national rankings as the Scotland team's rankings NOT the combined rankings of the clubs.
    My mistake. :54:
    Now i realise it.
    Still say that the CL rankings system should be drastically changed.
    Too much favouritism for Spanish, English, German and Italian clubs.

    What's the explanation for Man United picking up some points for this season despite not playing any game then??
