    Same here.
I reckon Biton has more to his game than Ki who flatters to deceive for my liking.
I think Hammer would agree with me on this too.:smiley-laughing002:

    Ki is a strange one.

Plenty in our support underrate him yet at the same time some of the comments I've seen since this thread appeared in support of him are way, WAY over the top.

Apparently the latest news is Espanyol were after Bitton but were put off by the £!0 transfer fee Celtic wanted.

Good for us, I think he has the potential.

Teams will have no problem bidding £10M next year after the season he's about to have in the holding role under Brendan, no doubt about it unless he picks up a long term injury.

Think Bitton has been better for Celtic but overall Ki is the better player

Both are overrated or were up here anyway

Ki is better now than what he was at Celtic but I still wouldn't have him back.

Technically good and pretty much nothing else.

    Apples and oranges.

One's a deep-lying playmaker type; one's a defensive mid whose role is also to use the ball (a Busquets type).

Aye, he's one of those guys who split opinion to such an extent that those who like him will often over-compensate.

What I don't understand is how people say Ki is much better down south because he's playing against a higher level of player and Bitton is playing Joe Nobodies.

Didn't Ki play the same Nobodies before he was spotted down south and now he's being very successful. I think a decent scout could spot a very good player up here because there are certain traits that are universal like comfortable on the ball, making space easy, creating opening passes, good shooting ability and positional strength.

For example Harry Redknapp was going to buy Jamie Forrest but after a while studying him the reason he decided against it was because he didn't think he could do it up here never mind down there.

I'm sure there is a bias against the standard of play up here but that's England's loss because each player should be individually assessed.

Think Ki has been a better player for Swansea than he was for us. Always liked him, just never seemed to have a settle starting spot for us. At Swans he's been playing regularly and performing alright. It was clear he had talent, just think we had one too many in his position at the time we sold him, so a decent money offer was too good to turn down, seems familiar...

Nah; not similar at all, imo. We didn't have any other options in Biton's specific position until we signed Ajer, and even now, if we sell Biton, who's going to come in for Ajer if he gets injured? Other than Nir and Ajer, we don't have any natural defensive mids (Brown's a CM, not a DM), let alone ball-playing ones!
Ajer could turn out to be a massive find, because his use of the ball combined with his defensive qualities make him a rare commodity - a Busquets-style DM, like Biton. Unless we have a replacement lined up, then we'd be mad to sell Nir and leave ourselves short in that position.

Probably meant more the fact that we have a lot of central midfielders, and it's more suited to Johansen's situation than Bitton's. I said on the Bitton thread that Nir is the only guy we have that can play in the deep-lying playmaker role. No one else can match his passing technique.

Not sure who I voted for in this already but I think Bitton is better when at the top of his game.

He needs to stop taking 4 and 5 touches before making a pass though.
