I never said it was our problem, what i said was if it never went the way it did, with the payments going to coaching staff and last minute leavng them no time to replace them, a deal would have been done by now.

That might work, although maybe he likes something more meatier .. :86:

    Exactly a snack and a juice :smiley-laughing002:

Seriously, at first I would have been against signing him , his temperament worries/d me. But when we look at the change in Griff, that has come about imo due to RD/Coaches, I just think he is worth taking a bit of a gamble on. Whether Cifti has the same desire to change is the only risk as he has got talent.

I'm willing to give the boy a chance but, I'd be bitterly dissapointed if he were to repeat any of the biting or suposed spitting antics while with us. Don't care how good a player he, or anybody is! I never want to see that from a player wearing the Hoops

Fair play if has decided to patch the glory of England for celtic it does show ambition. Maybe its a plea for help and hes willing to show hes no gona be a * any more.
The whole speed thing is boring now. He can build up his speed fs! We have a coaching team who have proven they can develop players attributes. Him, Brown, VVD, Johansen And bhoyata in the same team. * will be petrified to put a foot in against us :smiley-laughing002:

That's pretty much my thinking on him too.

He's not a bad player but I don't think he's the guy to step us up a level.

Griffiths was a better player before he came to us than Ciftci is now imo.

Hes not noticably fast but he can shift. Seen him out pace plenty of defenders albeit in SPL. His link up play is very good and when he had the likes of GMS Armstrong and Gauld round about him he fitted worked in tandom extremely well.

As for those who question how work rate I remember eathing him at ibrox in the 3-1 game and thinking he worled his * off and didnt give them a minute. The rangers defence was pish right enough but he played the lone forward role extremely well.

He wouldnt be my first choice signing if I was able to scour europe but he would be hugh on my list due to the qualities he has that celtic are lacking in that area.

Simply put, is he good enough now - and can he instantly improve and cut it in Europe?
He's not exactly prolific - and that was in a team playing attacking football!
He's had two ok / decent seasons but is far from setting the heather alight - and that's against spl opposition.
I know he's performed well enough against us - but how well has he performed in other games? i.e. does he only turn up in the big games?
Not to mention, the only other interest seems to be coming from the third tier of overrated football land!
Surely if he was that good enough (to play for us) others would be in for him...?

I think hes a decent player but I'd rather someone with a bit more pedigree and his attitude does seem to be an issue.

However saying all that if the day comes when he pulls on the green and white hopes i will wish him all the best and support him like i do with all celtic players. He may be a dirty arrogant * but he'll be our dirty arrogant *.

Even if we match Wigan's fee, they can afford higher wages. * living in Wigan though.

I see great potential in him , yes he is a * but he has all the attributes we need in a striker. Ronny can make him into a real beast of a striker of that I have no doubt.

This is the kind of player Ronny maximises the potential of if they are willing to learn , if Ronny wants him then he sees the possibilities.

Ciftci would a job for us in the Scottish game but I don't know if he could translate it to Europe

No doubt Ciftci has talaent and ability.. but there is also a nasty side to him.

Ronny has been known to take "problem" players and get the best out of them.. If Ronny wants him then our club should pay the asking price .. Lawwell may be good at negotiations but we do seem to have a bit of a reputation for lowballing clubs whenit comes to makingan offer

Personally i think he will sign now that he has knocked back another move... the temptation to play at a winning club must be a draw to players who have won nothing of mention in their careers

I wanted the Thumb here when he was at Hibs.. i think Ciftci has the same potential and put him in a winning team he could flourish.

IF.. we are going to sign him then get him in NOW..

Sick of the "he's not good enough for Europe"! * sake! How do we know? We can't afford someone who's made their mark in the CL, we need to find them!! Hooper wasn't CL quality when we signed him was he? But he done no bad, couple of goals v Soartak, goal v Helsenborg.

Exactly, wasn't Johansen a bit of a problem player before Ronny made him see the light?
