Oh well, back to the days of goal keeping mistakes losing crucial league points and costing CL progression - I.e. Hedman Vs Bayern.

No doubt we'll go thorugh a string of duds in the next few season.

TBH I would love him to sign a * contract to allow us to get a good fee for him.

Should have been done during the * summer. Prob the board holding back over a 5k dispartity in our offer and his terms or something.

I will be * gutted beyond belife if the big man leaves, FFS he is by far the best goalkeeper I have ever seen playing for Celtic, this first goalkeeper I have had any confidance in. The board should be doing EVERYTHING to keep him at Celtic.

Unlikely, he's only a wOOden Catholic, that's why Magic can't stand him, coz Magic is a stout catholic and Boruc is out there fornicating with the world :icon_mrgreen:

    Totally irrelevant topic I know.

I think IF he was to leave for the said price od £10m then we should give Sunderland back the £8m for Gordon, or if we can get him cheaper that would be nice. But I would rather have Boruc.

The board made it clear though, that they need to rid of several players at the club before they can up contract offers or go for new big signings, they can't go back on their word for the bigman.

They should be trying their hardest at getting rid of Bobo and the likes THEN we can offer Boruc what Boruc deserves (well in fOOtball terms anyways).

    Some good news.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/celtic/7138029.stm

Artur Boruc cannot leave Celtic under the ruling which saw Andy Webster quit Hearts until May 2009 at the earliest.

Celtic are in talks to extend the goalkeeper's contract, which currently runs until the summer of 2009.
Boruc told a Polish journalist in a website interview he may try to use the Webster clause in the summer or extend his current deal.
But the keeper would not be able to take advantage of the Webster ruling for a further two years. <!-- E SF -->
Scotland international Webster successfully invoked Article 17 of the Fifa transfer regulations to cancel his contract at Hearts in May.

We've again become on the 16 best clubs of Europe

    Artur Boruc

    </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- E IBOX -->
For players under the age of 28 the protected period is three years of a contract, and for those 28 or over when signing the contract the protected period is two years.
A 15-day notice period has to be served before a player can invoke the ruling and then a compensation fee must be decided.
The player is then free to find a new club, providing the switch is to another country.
<!-- S ILIN -->Webster case is the 'new Bosman'
    <!-- E ILIN -->
Despite newspaper speculation linking Boruc with a move in the summer, the Poland international said he was happy to be playing for "a big club".
"We've again become on the 16 best clubs of Europe," he told Sport.PL.

No-one at Celtic has ever discussed with Artur what he is worth

    Celtic chief executive
    Peter Lawwell

    </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- E IBOX -->
"But I'm aware that there are better teams in Europe and I've said before that I'd like to play somewhere else than Scotland as well.
"I want to develop as a footballer and meet new challenges."
The goalkeeper said he could well stay on depending on how the talks develop, adding: "A move would be the last resort. I still count on us coming to terms.
"The talked about price of £10m is out of this world."
Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell said: "No-one at Celtic has ever discussed with Artur what he is worth. That is fan and media speculation."
The goalkeeper is currently recovering from a minor knee operation and has targeted a return for the Old Firm game at Celtic Park on 2 January.
"It wasn't a complicated operation and I was back in Glasgow for the weekend," he said.
"But it had to be done as part of my kneecap became disjointed. That limited my knee movements. "It's getting better and I'm beginning to walk normally."

I've I feeling I'm really going to stir the * with this but here goes.

I don't think he'd make it in the premiership because he makes to many mistakes. At the moment he seems to be able to raise his game for the "big games". We can handle him dropping the odd cross against Aberdeen, Hearts or St Mirren (just examples not refering to any particular incident) but the quality down there is much better and he would have to up his game or his mistakes would be punished. Yes he's made some world class stops against average oposition (Russell Andersons header last season springs to mind) but to cut it against top class teams week in week out he would need to raise his overall performance

Don't get me wrong, I'm not talking about the likes of the Hibs game earlier this season, I'm talking about the mistakes that go unpunished cos we play most our games against *.

Please don't see this as Anti-Boruc, playing against better players may inspire him it might just be he gets bored easily in the SPL. Either way I love him and want him to stay.

I would take £10 million for him, tbh I don't think he is world-class, so yeah we could sell him, buy a new goalie for around £3 million and then use the £7 or so million for a quality player or two...

I'm not having this 'he's not great' malarky. I think hes unarguably the best keeper in the U.K. and if he was at a top 5 club he would be the best keeper in Europe (due to the exposure of ur big clubs). I mean check out with the exception of Juve and Chelsea everyone elses offering....

Van Der Sar? Too old and too error prone now.
    Lehmann... Likewise
Reina.... Error prone and doesnt reach Borucs highs
    Dida... Less said the better
Victor Valdes... Youngish but again doesnt hasnt shown the kind of level as for example Boruc versus Manu
Casillas... a good competitor for Boruc

The only thing about him is hes a bit of a Raj but I say this could be the biggest loss since Henrik Larsson

THANKFULLY the story is a lot of * (hopefully!)

are all undoubtably better than him.

    the rest are argueable.

hes a top quality keeper. i pray we keep him.

The Old Trafford game I think it was when he tipped Paul Telfer's headed backpass onto the post.. One of the best saves he's made..

I think he's more agile than Craig Gordon..

You make a good point about Boruc's mistakes going unpunished , I think the same applies to hundreds of players in general although I can't think of too many of Boruc's ones that he's got away with..

Definately against AC in our last group game , If Inzaghi's header goes into the net instead of Borucs hands we'd all have been asking what was the keeper playing at , strutting around so casually in a massive game..

Having seen all the Celtic goalies since Frank Haffey I have to say that Boruc is the best. But here is a strange thing.

All the time Celtic had average goalkeepers they had natural goal scoring forwards but the minute we get a good keeper (Boruc) we stopped having an natural goalscorer. So maybe if we can get 10 mill for Artur we can replace him with a great striker. Just a thought.

Would love to keep Artur but if he's going then the money should be directed to getting in Skippy's partner. You can't have too many goals in a team. If you can score lots of goals then you could have any fud in goals.

Best keeper we have had since Packie Bonner, but undoubtedly he will want to move on.

Packie was a legend and all mate, but Boruc is a good shot better.

Boruc is saying 10m is too much for him, which is playing into the hands of potential suitors.

It annoys me that he will no doubt go for less; I dont think 10 is enough.

Any other half decent league (not top, but half decent - out level) would be asking for about 15. We undersell ourselves.

Lets hope this all gets resolved and he signs a 4 year deal of something :icon_mrgreen:
