Van Dijk and Wanyama play completely different positions.

Not a lot in it in terms of quality though. My point is still the same.

    Gordon < Forster
Can't compare van Dijk & Wanyama
    Bitton = Ki
Guidetti < Hooper (farcical that anyone would think otherwise)
Johansen = Ledley (another season and Stefan will be better)

Can't quite say that either, in the SPFL definitely, in Europe? Wanyamas performances schools what Van Dijk has produced for us there. As does Ledleys with Johansen, Hooper with Guidetti and Forster with Gordon.

It's still very, very early days for this team though. Hopefully Champions League next year will be a litmus test for us.

I don't see the obsession on comparing us woth Premiership teams anyway, it's not the level or type of football I'd be aiming for.

I don't think I'd sacrifice European football for it but it would be interesting for a season to see how we'd fair.

    Basically exactly what I said.

We still have a world class goalkeeper
Bitton is better than Ki.. Stop trying to disagree with me for the sake of it.
Hooper is better than Guidetti, that's what I said
Johansen is better than Ledley in my opinion, just. * all in it though.

I'm just saying you can't say we would have been competitive in the EPL with Forster, Ki , Ledley.. When we now have Gordon, Bitton, Johansen..

I wouldn't say Bitton is better than Ki, better defensively but Ki offered far more going forward while both of them are good at setting the tempo.

    Comparable players really.

Bitton has only been class for 6 months really, he doesn't merit a £6m move to a Prem team just yet. Ki is still the better player imo. Wanyama > Ki > Bitton.

I know but the 'on their day, not much in it' comment is just wrong.

But yes, I don't think there's much between Forster, Ki, Ledley & Gordon, Bitton & Johansen but the former are better, no question.

Saying that, this Liverpool - United game just got descrobed as going on at a "ferocious pace", it's quite tame by how high we've kept our intensity/tempo at this season.

Everyone on here is absolutely raving about Bitton and rightly so. When Ki was sold for £5m or so to Swansea most on here were delighted to get that much for him. Johansen is better than Ledley for me.

Because he wasn't better than Wanyama, Kayal, Ledley or Broony. Neither is Bitton.

Well, Kayal at his absolute best, not current Kayal.

Biton is excellent mate but just not the same drive forward as Ki for me. And as for Johanssen, probably my fav player at the mo. But Ledley more combative and composed!

Bitton isn't really comparable to any of those players except Ki.

I think you two are criminally underrating Bitton. His performance at home to Inter was outrageously good.

Johansen is a lot more different to Ledley Bitton actually reminds me more of Joe now then Johansen though I actually can't really think of any other player like Johansen really if he could work on getting 20+ goals a season I'd see him has a top top top midfielder actually think he's better then Bitton I know Bitton only really does the hard work but Johansen is such a joy to watch

It's comparable because they play centre mid. They're different types of players, as are Ledley and Johansen by the way.

He's been excellent, no doubt but if I had to have Broony or zbitton I'd have Broony, if I had to have Wanyama or Bitton I'd have Wanyama.

That's how it was with Ki, we had better players there and £6m was a good price for what was essentially a 5th choice central midfielder. Bitton may well go on and be better than any of them but right now he's just about Ki level, only because he's better defensively, he doesn't have the goal threat of Ki or the same creativity.

Ki offered something completely different to any of the other midfielders at the club at that time. He was the best passer of that bunch and was just as capable a goalscorer.

I'm glad he's doing well in England, good player.

I need to watch more of your games but that's just the feeling I've gotten on the outside. It's harder to keep up over a 38 game or 46 game season aswell rather than one or two off games, * Bradford bested Chelsea and Middlesbrough beat Man City, if it wasn't for the league position already in place some might claim them to be the better sides.

It's all hypothetical as well, of course, Celtic with the added money would have an entirely different team... in the Championship, let alone Premier League money.

To compare this squad to the English Premier League is irrational considering they have a starting income without kicking the ball of £100m.

You've got it bang on for the first 6 months of the season, we've been an entirely different team since Christmas though. Which is understandable when a new manager comes in.
