Hi guys. I was just offered a non-paid job by Celtic FC, to be a "freelancer writer" for Celtic FC (yeh I know it's a * job title). Basically I'm supposed to write two articles each week on Chinese social media to promote Celtic, one about club history and one looking forward to the next fixture. Hopefully the club expect to convert a few Chinese football fans(most of which follow EPL) into paying customers of Celtic FC (or plc, whatever).

My task at hand is to write one article about Lisbon Lions prior to the big Inter game. I know the facts (first Northern Europe team, all home-grown players etc) and significance of that. Now I want to add wee bit of personal touch in that.

My own memory about meeting Billy Mcneill outside paradise is still colourful, I just want to know if any care to share their personal memories and emotional connection about Lisbon lions ?

Thanks very much for helping :celt_2:

Celtic Wiki might help you. It often has quotes etc about Celtic from by gone days that younger fans haven't heard/seen.

Could talk about the game all night, but if its some personal stuff, here we go.

Was 16 and it was the first time I was allowed to drink in the house, and the pale ale was smashing, still is.

The build up to the game was something I had never witnessed, well none of us had,but it was at that time something strange in the fact that we knew we had some team, and even though of course we had our doubts.

But the game, yes the game, was probably the most exciting roller coaster ride of any Celtic fan at that time, the emotions of the build up to be then down 0-1 after a few minutes,to then watch on black and white tv,our team, not only take control of the game but to go on and show the WORLD what a beautiful game football is,when it is played properly.

The aftermath saw us dancing in the streets, and were I lived at the time in Milton, yes we even had supporters of the Govan team out celebrating with us,such was the enormity of the event.

Funny thing,I have never watched a replay of the game, dont know why just haven't,but then again maybe I don't need to.:50:

I had a cousin who is dead now , he owned a pub called the Waverley.
Anyway he went to Lisbon and when they won he decided to stay on for a while .
The locals thought he was Tommy Gemmell and they kept buying him drink . John was
nearly not coming back at all.

    impressive !

I used to use the service of an elder Tim taxi driver, He told us he went to the very first Celtic-Milan game. My mate and I on the car immediately thought of 06-07 season, but he actually meant the game in1970. That's when I realise how much we as young Celts missed, a massive part of the club history. terrific

Whatever do you mean Google translate? :56:

There used to be a quiz on radio Clyde that the players took part in we even won that that year! :smiley-laughing002:

As well as team of the year in the BBC sports personality of the year awards. Every single thing we entered we won. :50:

I was six years old living in Southend on Sea Essex. Our school football coach was mad on Celtic. After Celtic won in 67 he persuaded the headmistress to ditch the school kit which was a replica of the local team Southend United for the famous hoops of Celtic,

Nearly fifty years later by grandson played against the school and I went along to watch. They still wear the famous old Celtic kit.

I was telling their current PE teacher why they wear it but he was a dozing git who supported West Ham.
