We need to get players off the wage bill

He single-handedly cost us a goal in a 3-0 loss to Juventus. I'm probably one of the biggest Ambrose defenders on here Really don't think he's as bad as people make him out to be.

 

Honestly look at list and I'd keep only 21/22 of those players!

Don't think any of these players will ever be anything other than squad players. I realise you need squad players but I'd rather see that populated with our youth players so a few of the younger players on my list would get a reprieve! But the likes of Ambrose who is one of the worst defenders we've had period can * off! Would be delighted if that guy never pulled the jersey on ever again!! Bombscare!!

 

He cost us 2 goals actually and lets not forget his performance against Maribor.

The players I highlighted weren't neccessarily the ones I'd get rid of, they were the ones who have made 5 appearances for Celtic this season. I'd keep Fasan and get rid of Wakaso and Tonev, for example.

Verte Auld , you say we have almost 40 professional players and whilst I agree wholeheartedly that we need to get rid of players . I remember last season Scotland's newest club had 56 players . I am not sure it is necessary the quantity that is the problem, it's more the quality . The problem I think is the players 22/23 years of age that are no use to us , and to no one else . In the ideal world we should have players in every transfer window surplus to our requirements yet good enough to get reason able money . The list lov The Tic 88 has made out are all players we will probably not need , but who the * else would want them.?

 

It's the Maribor game that sticks in my mind. He played in a central position but was supposed to be playing at right back. Their winger enjoyed having that entire side of the pitch to himself because Ambrose - for some very peculiar reason unknown to the rest of humanity - refused to go anywhere near him.
Time and time again the guy had a free run down the wing, with diddy Ambrose standing 30 yards out of position. I'm sorry but that was schoolboy stuff, and unforgivable seeing as we got pumped out of Europe.

 

Every defensive player costs us goals if their performances are scrutinised to the extent of Ambrose .

 

Mistakes or even the occasional 'off day' can be tolerated, but what use is a player who plays grossly out of position for 90mins? And Maribor wasn't even a one-off - he has previous for embarrassing us in Europe.

 

I don't know why we don't punt our youth players with a buy back price. If they turn out to be a GMS or Armstrong we get them back, if not they are off our books and into a career in Scotland.

 

He has previous for making game winning tackles as well - Barcelona wasn't a one off.

 

Let derk go, disappointed he hasnt done it with us really thought he would be a good player

 

There would be something wrong if a Celtic defender didn't make the odd decent tackle, don't you think? But having nightmare games on big Euro nights - that just won't do in my book.

 

Problem with Zaluska is he is neither good enough to provide cover in case Gordon gets injured neither cheap enough to sit in the bench. I am bet he's paid more than any other SPL keeper bar Gordon itself. He is also not exactly young so no chance of him getting better someday. I do think we could ditch him, play with Fasan in the bench for a while and in case Gordon gets injured bad spend some time scouting a young, cheap and decent keeper.

I can't recall a single good save from Zaluska. A single one.

 

Fasan should be Cover enough, Zaluska could be Nr. 1 keeper at a couple of spl teams so we can sell him.

 

I have seen many of our players embarrass us in Europe but we move on there is no need to bleat over it . I have saw Ambrose play very well in Europe . Talking about embarrishment surely the most embarrassing thing is a so called fan going out of his way to ridicule and pick on one player .
