It was the not giving a * about any past players that confuses me. As was said.

So no, there's no comparisons there except they both once wore a Celtic top and now don't.

Agreed, why bring them up. Players come and go all the time at every club in the world. Enjoy it while you can, and then find a new hero.

Was he not pushed out the door ?

I don't think he meant every player literally.

I think you know that also.

You brought them up,talking about removing Jinky's statue.

    According to you:50:

You may be right but then the comment means * all, may as well say I don't care about players that I don't like anymore. Which is obvious as *.

You're all bitter. The guy did infact go on to bigger things. Southampton have a better squad than we have had in * ages, they are in a position we could never touch in the PL, Vic had no previous affiliation to our club and was only here for two year, so its a compliment that he misses playing for us. We did only have about 10 good games of football a year.

Don't be silly, I was being a smart *. No way should they take down his statue, I was trying to pointy out the error in disregarding someone just because they left us.

Sorry but if Celtic where allowed in the BPL, such would be the financial resources made available to us through Sky, Increased Sponsorship, Increased gates (Basically a full house of 60k +, with the potential for extending Celtic Park even more) this would mean we would be able to afford & attract Higher Quality players. So not only would we be able to able to touch Southampton but in realizing our true potential Southampton and the like could only dream to be as big as Celtic.

To put it another way if Celtic swapped places with Southampon in the morning (and I know our current crowds have been poor at 25k + average) do you think they would be able to attract any where near 25k to watch them in the SPL? No Chance

The Sky Cash cow gives Southampton and the like a chance to compete in the BPL, without that money and having to ply their trade in the SPL would mean they would be no more bigger than clubs like Dundee Utd or maybe at a push Aberdeen.

Don't forget if we played down there we would have no European money. So we would be on par with teams like Southampton, why would someone want to sign for us, over ManU, Liverpool, Everton, Spurs, Arsenal, Man City or Chelsea?

We would have European football though. Perhaps not immediately but within a short space of time. It's a bit of a moot point really, everyone knows the potential of this club coupled with Sky money would eventually see us reach a new level, but it's impossible to say how we would do immediately. If we were going into the BPL next season then realistically our squad could have an extra £50-£100m worth of talent.

Sorry I'm not sure I'm reading that properly. Do you mean we would need that much?

What is your definition of "a short period of time"? And when you look at Liverpool, a bigger team than us, and you see the money they have spent, it's seems silly to take our future success as a given.

I mean that if we knew we were going there next season we would probably spent a lot of money in the summer. We would expect our own revenues to increase by £50m due to TV revenue alone. On top of that you would have new sponsorship deals and huge demand for what would be more expensive tickets.

Liverpool are a successful club though. You were stating we wouldn't make European football....how often have Liverpool failed to finish in one of the European places?

A short period of time could be as short as 1 transfer window if we spent money well.

The TV money would probably be over 60 million, BUT you don't get that until the season is over, so your OK with going into debt, to spend now? Now how comfortable are you with our spending history, how much quality would we get for our 60 million? Who are the players who are willing to join a team in the lower half of the table with no European football?

My point is, it's not a given that we would flourish.

2 out of the last 3 years, NO European football.

A few years ago, can't remember which season, we had one of our best European seasons, our revenue that season was 60 million. Lverpool had the smallest revenue of the big English clubs and it was almost THREE times our revenue. How do we over come that gap in a few years?

Compare us to Villa, a few years ago they had all the money from TV plus a lot of money from their owner, but they couldn't maintain their (small) level of success. Spurs are worse they have spent a fortune, still nothing to show for it.

I would be very comfortable spending £60m+ over the summer if I knew we were going to be in the BPL next year. £60m debt is about 10% of what some of the BPL clubs have.

I have no idea how much quality we would get for £60m. I think our transfer record is pretty good considering the budget restraints we operate within. I would expect us to do alot better than * £35m on Andy Carroll. IT's all speculation though.

Who would be willing to join a team who would pull in 60k fans every home game, have a special footballing history identity and would be playing in the richest league in the world? Loads of players probably but again it's impossible to answer. Let me turn it around and ask you out of the big players who have left us in the last 5/6 years (Hooper, Wanyama, Forster, McGeady), who would be willing to leave?
