Is this debate taking into account Charlie won't play tomorrow and will be lucky to be fit for next week never mind match fit?

Why drop Bitton when he has been playing well, to bring in Charlie Mulgrew who hasn't played in a month and is a poorer centre mid?

He has experience over Bitton in this kind of game but, there is only one way to gain experience and that is to play.

He'll get experience during the game just wouldn't start him.

When you hear players talk about their debut in that game, they talk about how the game passes them by. Don't think Bitton is a strong enough character to make his mark in the frantic opening of this game.

Play Charlie at LB tomorrow, to give him the game time.

You don't know that for sure though, just guesswork because of all this 'shitebag' talk, typical Scottish viewpoint.

I'd rather a fit Bitton who has been playing consistently well than an unfit Mulgrew who is seriously short of match fitness.

    I'd rather neither.

    My mdifield would be

    Henderson Brown Johansen

    Commons

Don't think Mulgrew will be anywhere near ready for this game.

Don't get me wrong there is an argument for playing him. I don't think he's a shitebag etc..

However I know Charlie has performed well against the huns before and he gives them more to think about.

In reality though the team we put out should be them comfortably.

It's just I want to really smash them.:shamrock:

He's going to play the 4-2-3-1 though, we all know it:smiley-laughing002:

    Fair enough.

If Mulgrew had been playing for the past month or so then I would obviously rather him in there but for me it should go on form and fitness.

I also prefer Bitton as a midfielder.

Charlie Mulgrew has never played "excellently" in midfield, hes absolutely dire in there. Decent centre half, poor everywhere else.

That's not true he plays well there when a team doesn't press well.

He ran the show the last time we played RC and provides excellent defensive cover.

Johansen's return to form happened when Charlie returned to the team.

Not a long term option there but harsh to say he's never played well there.

Struggling with my approach to this game.
Head tells me that its a straightforward win against lower league opposition.
Heart wants to show the rotten mob how far behind they are.

Henderson won't play. Think team will be

Gordon; Lustig, Denayer, van Dijk, Emilio; Brown, Bitton; Forrest, Johansen, Stokes; Griffiths.

Or maybe Commons for either Forrest or Stokes.

    Attacking wise Mulgrew is better
Mulgrew can put a delivery into the box
Mulgrew can take a set piece
Mulgrew can get on the end of a set piece
    Mulgrew can spread the ball
Mulgrew has the better positional sense
Mulgrew will be more likely to get stuck in
Mulgrew has more experience of a game like this

Biton has none of the above, unfortunately. Hence, why I would pick Chuck every day of the month
