Good shout, that seems more reasonable. Loans are good too as Patrick Roberts is about to prove. Really looking forward to their progress.

Wait what? Maybe Miller? I thought he was a shoe in? Honestly thought he was the next start after Aidan?

CELTIC Football Club is delighted to announce that Calvin Miller has signed a new three-year deal with the champions.
The 18-year-old attacker put pen to paper on a new contract at Celtic Park this afternoon and will be looking to push his way into the first-team plans of new manager Brendan Rodgers after an impressive season for Tommy McIntyre’s Development Squad.
The Castlemilk lad has been at the club since age 12 and has worked his way up through the youth ranks at the Academy to become one of the brightest prospects in the Development side.
The talented teenager made his first-team debut against Galatasaray in the Antalya Cup in January 2014 and was included in the matchday squad for the final day of the season this year as the Hoops rounded off five-in-a-row with a stunning 7-0 victory over Motherwell.
Miller was also part of the side that won the SPFL Development League title without losing a single match this season, with his goals from the wings and up front playing a crucial role in the championship success.
The club wishes Calvin every success for the future as a new era under Brendan Rodgers gets underway at Paradise.

A DELIGHTED Calvin Miller is relishing the prospect of impressing new Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers after signing a new three-year with the club today in Paradise.
The 18-year-old has shone for the Development Squad over the past 12 months, helping them go through the entire league season undefeated as they romped to the title.
He was rewarded with a place in the first-team matchday squad for the campaign finale against Motherwell, just missing out on a place on the bench as the champions crushed the Steelmen 7-0.
Building on that promising end to the term is now the talented teenager’s ambition as he embarks on the next stage of his fledging football career.
And he reckons that Brendan Rodgers’ track record in nurturing young talent at his previous clubs is also an encouraging omen for those within Celtic’s youth ranks.
Speaking exclusively to the official Celtic website after putting pen to paper, he said: “I’m absolutely delighted as I have worked hard for it and I will keep doing that and hopefully I can get an opportunity soon.
“I have developed in many positions over the last season and have worked hard. I have set goals and achieved them and that’s why I got the three-year contract.
“I’m going to continue to work hard over pre-season and do my programme and I can’t wait to get back in to show the new manager what I have.
“I have heard the new manager say that he is big on youth and wants to bring through players, so hopefully I can do that in pre-season and there are a few friendlies where I can get the opportunity to show the manager what I can do.
“I have spoken to a few of the boys in the team and they are all really buzzing about the new manager and how he gives young players an opportunity.
“The last game of the season I got the opportunity to experience being involved with the first-team squad. It was a boost and it has made me a lot more confident so I can’t wait to get back in for the start of next season.”
Capable of operating on either flank or through the middle, the versatile attacker believes he has become a more accomplished striker this season.
And he underlined this improvement by netting a brilliant brace in the last game of the season to fire the second-string to three points away to Motherwell, a result that confirmed their remarkable unbeaten record.
“It was good to score two goals especially when it went to 1-1 and we needed that next goal to win the game,” said Miller.
“I had a better season this time and that’s just been through developing myself, doing more stuff in the gym and after training, which I am getting my rewards for.
“Playing as a striker is a hard position as it always varies and I feel I've improved with my back to goal. I have been out on the left or right but sometimes I have been through the middle and it’s different in that role.
“You are playing against two big centre-backs and playing in between people rather than being in a wide area and taking people on in one-v-one situation. But I have managed it and I have scored goals through playing there so I’m happy with myself.”
Celtic’s Head of Youth Chris McCart, said: “Calvin’s had a really good season and has worked hard. He got his rewards at the end of the season by being part of the first-team squad.
"He has played as a striker or out wide and has played in the UEFA Youth League and has always acquitted himself really well. Making the transition between the Development Squad and the first team will be his biggest challenge. Players either go straight into the first-team squad for training or go out on loan.
“Calvin is still at a stage where he can play with the Development Squad and is still only U19, so he has a few more years of development and hopefully the three years will give him enough time to nurture that talent fully.
“Calvin is a good example of working hard and getting a longer-term contract. He has good potential and he has to go and impress the new manager, as do all the players, The Academy is delighted with the progress he has made and hopefully he can reach the next stage and step up into the first team , a crucial part of any footballer’s development.”

Brilliant news! Him, Nesbitt and Aitchison, off the top of me head, are well good enough to work their way into the top team. There's other really talented youngsters too but in terms of attacking midfield talent, they are up there.
Can Miller not play as a striker aswell?

What happened to Jamie Lindsey and Stuart Findlay? Seemed like smart players.

Coming back from loans or what?

Youngsters Jack Breslin, Ciaran Lafferty, Calum Waters and Blair Kidd have been released by the club.

I didn't expect Breslin to get released considering he got quite a few gleaming reports during the season. I don't know the other 3 lads. Sad day for them but hopefully they can learn at another club in a lower league and then work their way back.

Those pictures of the Development squad on Trophy Day are excellent Crow, cheers :50:

Calvin Miller does mostly play on the left wing as far as I know. Maybe he's a striker in the Dalglish mode, he often looked like a midfielder feeding the striker with killer passes. In fact that was Stein's first role for him, sit behind the two forwards and make sure they get the ball.

I wish there were a lot more footage of the lads because it's so hard to judge just from reports although you can get a fair idea it's just not the same as seeing them and their movement etc.

Congratulations Calvin Miller, hopefully the next three years are going to mean big things for you.
