I thought his official duty was Bobby Robson's interpreter.

He was, he stated that was a major influence on his managerial career.

He was practically a parrot on his shoulder every day. Could almost mimic the man.

Was a great interview piece when Jose was talking about that.

Quote the posts you deem 'pish' and debate them rather than complain. Everyone is entitled to their views, including you so take part.

If some posts are plain stupid then ignore them and debate the others.

Your right, he hasn't had enough time yet, but his current showing of implementing his style has raised concerns, in line with his lack of stature, in my opinion.

Calm yer emotion anyways, he'll get to January at least unless it gets worse on the park. If he gets a wee run together, hopefully it kicks him on.

Point still stands, we aint a place for a guy wae no experience at a decent level to learn to be a manager, hone his philosophy and tactics; of course but basics are expected.

    Thanks for asking. Steve Clarke.
I wanted Clarke from the beginning. Still want Clarke here.

Yep like him as a coach and was my first choice too...

However Deila is trying to change the whole ethos of the club and if he is given the time.. He'll get it right, improving fitness and methodology can only be a good thing..

    Lots of overreaction on here...

Wonder why Clarke has not taken been in the running for any of the jobs recently not heard him quoted in a while?

Amazing how many people haven't learned from this year just how difficult CL qualification actually is. Yes we are Celtic and should manage it maybe 3 years out of 4; but we simply aren't going to manage it every year because there are always going to be some good teams we can draw.

One thing's for * sure: anybody who has an expectation (as opposed to a hope, which is perfectly reasonable) of CL Group Stage qualification in the first season of a new manager has a very short memory. No Celtic manager has managed that since the CL has existed.

Where did I say get him to *?

Where did I say I want to give him till January?

I have no thoughts on a replacement as the man is still our manager, but I can say I'm unsure if I have confidence in our hiring team, but thats another thread.

Stop talking sense! A point i have been making for weeks. But the 'Delia oot' brigade (yes you will note those who hate the guy the most can't even spell his * name) will not listen.
He should of won the Champions League by now!

Didn't this joker also want Craig Levein as our manager for about 2 years after Mowbray went?

8 games into the league ffs see msm in full swing celtic hate as well, the guys trying to change things, he was left a bare squad and no real time or money to spend. Could we give him at least a third of a season?

I bet certain cretins on the outside looking in are loving these threads

I don't think we can give Deila anymore time as he seems to have lost the dressing room to me, and if I am correct on that, then there is nothing he or Collins will be able to do, to turn things around. The same fate happened to Mowbray only he soldiered on to March before he got sacked, I don't support allowing Deila to soldier on to March for the same reasons.

As for Clarke, maybe he is biding his time because he knows Deila won't last. Clarke was a great number two to Mourinho for years, and has proved with West Brom he can step up to be an excellent manager, Clarke is a tim too which is the icing on the cake.

I expected a far better approach by the manager and board towards our qualification for the Champions League. Talk about tying hands behind your back and blindfolding.

Deila and the board made a * of it.

Maybe we'd still have got put out, but giving yourself the best chance possible is a no brainer but we've covered this to the moon and back on here in the past couple of months.

Its easy to forget that the squad lacks real depth and class..

We've had key players injured for important matches..missing our Captain, Lustig, Mathews and Forrest..plus World Cup fatigue..

Not to mention players we've lost..

He needs proper backing in the next window but until then patience is required and judge when he has a full squad to choose from..

I get the frustation but calling for his head at this stage, is a knee-* reaction..:shamrock:

Was Deila right to come in and throw his principles and tactics at the squad right away, prior to our most important games of the season?

What worries me more is our domestic performances, mate. Of course Europe (even the Europa League) is difficult, but domestically I still cannot see any improvement. There was just that one game against Dundee Utd that I'm clinging onto. Of course I don't want him out and will be furious if he isn't at least given to March/April; but I am starting to lose a bit of faith that he can implement his vision here.

I don't know whether the problem is fitness, diet, player unrest, Deila being inflexible with tactics or something else entirely (it's all just speculation); but it just doesn't seem to be happening...yet.

On a positive note, the Hamilton thing kind of makes sense on reflection: with Deila's system being so dependent on a high energy approach, the Sunday after a tough European game was never going to be the game where it all "clicked". Maybe that was why Deila was so easy on the players in his interview.
