If ISIS and Hamas are destroyed they will need to be replaced with other radical organisations.

    "I am pro Zion"

There's something you don't see every day. Or any day really, even the Zionists usually keep it to themselves.

It's better to keep your mouth shut and be thought of as an idiot, than to open it and remove all doubt.

This isn't really the issue here, guys. Gnomebhoy had the right idea. Regardless of whether you're "pro-Zion" or whatever, Celtic fans who wish to, have the right to express their solidarity with the suffering Palestinian people without UEFA fining us. Were a poll conducted, I think 99% of Celtic fans would agree with that, whether they supported the Palestinian cause or not.

I don't know why you seem to think I would disagree with any of that. :smiley-laughing002:

You'd hopefully get knocked on your *. We're not a club open to all. People who endorse the murder of innocent men, women children; apartheid; internment; torture; illegal blockades and religious triumphalism are not welcome at Celtic Park.

Celtic supporters are overwhelmingly supportive of the Palestinian people and their cause, perhaps more so than any other demographic in Scotland. I wouldn't expect you to know that though.

Wouldn't be 99%. May have been at one time but not at present I don't think.

It was just when you had said about Lawwell waiting to see how other appeals were going first. I didn't think you would disagree mate.

I doubt he endorses any of those things, mate. He's viewing things from within a different narrative from yours and mine. Yes, the Israeli flag represents all the above for me too; I'd hazard a guess that for him it probably represents a story of survival as a people through a millenium of imperial oppression (Babylon, Persia and Rome) followed by two further millenia of exile, discrimination and suffering climaxing in the Holocaust before finally triumphing in obtaining self-determination and a nation of their own in what they consider the homeland of their ancestors where they've had to (in their view) fight off constant attacks to survive and unfortunately regrettable things have happened in the course of defending themselves from this aggression.

I'm not endorsing this narrative, mate, at least not that part of it that takes place post-WWII, I personally think the ending is tragically ironic rather than triumphant. A people who have suffered perhaps more than any other on earth under apartheid (ghettos, discriminatory laws, etc), genocide (not just the Holocaust!) and imperial oppression, or rather some of this people, imposing apartheid and unimaginable suffering on another people and acting as the local agents of an imperial power. :54: It's enough to make you doubt your faith in human nature.

Nevertheless, it's important to remember flags represent different things to different people and though I'd feel deeply embarrassed to see lots of Israeli flags at CP, I can't see any justification for putting this guy on his back if he wants to fly one at CP (e.g. for Biton or Bitton or however the * it's spelt this week).

Yeah, I was probably too optimistic there. :54:

What I dont understand about all this (although i havent read all the thread) is why Spurs can get away with flying the star of David in European games? Also, if it is for political reason you see rainbow flags of the lesbian and bi sexual gay movement at games in London. Isnt that an overtly political message?

Every single flag is political UEFA would rather we just be a bunch of mindless zombies to just pay for your ticket and sit down and shut up and watch the money flow in I'd personally rather see all clubs be involved to some degree of political engagement but UEFA don't want democracy

Don't really agree with the Rainbow flag as being political though politics should never intrude on human rights
