I'm sorry but just because Mjallby was a good defender don't mean the players he coaches will be.
Talent is 90% natural (no matter what some say).
We could have Sammer, Baresi, Maldini and Beckenbauer coaching our defenders... they would still be *.

    Elaborate.

    Put it this way.
If Michael Schumacher coached me in driving an F1 car, for years do you think i could then go out and win 7 World Championships?
No of course not. I don't have the talent - no matter who or how much i am coached. It's just not there.

If your theory is correct why is that not every player who was in Messi's youth teams are the best in their positions in the world? Why only Messi? They all had the same coaches. Same with Maradonna and Pele et al.
    Talent, not coaching.

No bother. Coming from the guy whose wrote off Badr already and he has a goal against the huns to his name.

In fact, you've actually wrote off Matthews and Mark Wilson as well.

    Your logic is slightly flawed.

Have you been racing cars all your life?
You're forgetting the players we have have played the sport for the majority of their lives. And at a very high level.

Are you saying it's impossible for players with a decent grasp of the game and who have some experience of playing at a decent standard cannot learn from people who are renowned for the same except at a higher level?

Aye, maybe a bit harsh on Matthews, had actually forgotten about him, but hey ho, as for bard. and Wilson, no probs, Wilson was feckin' awful, and is not a good defender, and yep Bard. scored but was feckin shocking and ultimately subbed.

My point is, if you don't have great defenders, which in my opinion we don't, you can be greatest coach in world it aint gonna make a vast difference, ultimately they're still gonna be bad players.

Rogne and Mulgrew are the best centre-halves we have, but Rogne has a fitness problem and is young.

So that leaves Loovens, Majstorovic and Wilson. Hardly inspiring.

I think a big part of the problem is Lenny et al have too many players in general and struggle to figure out their best options, though in attack he should know its Stokes and Hooper !

He should go with a pairing (mine would be Kelvin and Rogne) and barring injury/suspension stick with it for a run of games.

As an aside do we remember some of the CBs we have endured at CP ?
    e.g. Olivier Tebily
    Raphael Scheidt ??

Seriously don't see the love for Rogne either, sorry, the league cup final was one of the very worst performances from a centre half i've seen from a Celtic player, in fact bad enough to be replaced by Loovens ffs.

hate to say this but i cant see lenny lasting the season, luv the guy i really do but what experience at management did he have to begin with, how he left out commons stokes forrest and even ledley was nuts, hes team selections are baffling to say the least, sunday was once of the worst celtic days ive had for awhile and cant see in improving under current management team.

Spot on, all seem shadows of what they were last season, but there again if I'm being honest I felt last year we were no world beaters either, we thought because we beat Rankers a coupe of times on the spin we'd arrived, but, unfortunately once Smith discovered that if you actually start to attack this team then we weren't half as good as we thought.

Apart from a couple of hidings we gave to Aberdeen we dominated very little teams either home or away, in fact even right after our best performance in the 3-0 game last year and we were handed our arses on a plate at Motherwell.

And when the pressure really mounted up at Inverness, we fell flatter than a witches *. Think because of all this Lenny bullshit ( not down playing it, in no way condone it) our eyes were taken off the ball, now folk are actually seeing that these players are not as good as we thought and Lennys maybe not up to the job.

Think Wilsons improvement, but still think it's not good enough, was down to having an injury free period more than any great master stroke of coaching, as for Mulgrew, and more so Forrest, is more down to age and being half decent players, christ think if I was manager Forrest would've been a better player from a year ago to this, nowt to do with coaching.

thats right seven games into the season ...having been roundly whacked by st.jonstone......embarresed in europe by a team that finished 7th in the swiss league....and beaten soundly by our biggest rivals 4-2 ....all this "overreacting" talk is unreal......thing is lennon does not know his best team ....makes late substitutions.......and sticks with players who frankly dont cut the mustard ...please wake up and stop making excuses for players and management team who are highly paid....and badly underperforming........mulgrew has given himself a platform to continue being a decent player....lennon would,nt play forest against rangers but pumped balls to the wings all day long.....not good enough.....lets not forget too ...we should off walked the league last year and were humped out of europe at the same stage.....no improvement.......

wilson was a decent player under mon.....so hardly a genius stroke by lenny....what about the pre-season buisness.....wanyamma.......young could be decent.....forster....shipped four against rangers ...hardly the beating heart of an amazing defence in fact the carry-on getting him on loan was emmbarrasing........and a striker who he has,nt played in front of sammy ...along with tying sammy up for three yrs......all mastersrtokes ...but mabe its myalbys fault....the defence is shocking and all of them will pay for it ultimatley
