You couldn,t make half this * up :eek1:

A man with heart problems who was on Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) had a heart attack during a work capability assessment. He was then sanctioned for failing to complete the assessment.

A man who had gotten a job that was scheduled to begin in two weeks’ time was sanctioned for not looking for work as he waited for the role to start.

Army veteran Stephen Taylor, 60, whose Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) was stopped after he sold poppies in memory of fallen soldiers.

A man had to miss his regular appointment at the job centre to attend his father’s funeral. He was sanctioned even though he told DWP staff in advance.

Ceri Padley, 26, had her benefits sanctioned after she missed an appointment at the jobcentre - because she was at a job interview.

A man got sanctioned for missing his slot to sign on - as he was attending a work programme interview. He was then sanctioned as he could not afford to travel for his job search.

Sean Halkyward, 24, said his benefits were sanctioned because he looked for too many jobs in one week.

Mother-of-three Angie Godwin, 27, said her benefits were sanctioned after she applied for a role job centre staff said was beyond her.

Sofya Harrison was sanctioned for attending a job interview and moving her signing-on to another day.

Michael, 54, had his benefits sanctioned for four months for failing to undertake a week’s work experience at a charity shop. The charity shop had told him they didn’t want him there.

Terry Eaton, 58, was sanctioned because he didn’t have the bus fare he needed to attend an appointment with the job centre.

Many moons ago when I signed on, I phoned up to say I can't make my signing on time because I have a job interview and was told if I didn't turn up at my signing time I would be sanctioned :56:

This is why it males me sick when the media and bitter little cretins love to stick the boot into the most vulnerable, poorest people in our society. I was unemployed for a while about 5 years ago and it was one of the worst experiences of my life, because everyone judges you, treats you different amd thinks they are better than you.

Its not really support its a punishment. If it was support they would try to help you but they don't.

I think the treatment needs to be harsh in some respects. If it were too soft people would take advantage of it. What happened to Tim is unfair but Bob your cut is probably justified. :smiley-laughing002:

They didn't need to be harsh with me I had a family, mortgage, bills, debt, etc. I was desperately looking for a job because £60 odd pound a week doesn't even scratch the surface.

The long term unemployed have no confidence because the system and society treat them like dirt. They should be genuinely trying to help but if there isn't enough jobs then you start to understand that they know some will never get a job so they just try and find ways of stopping the benefit.

I was on ESA for a while cause of a slipped disc in my back. Had Occupational health and my doctor say i couldn't work but these * said i was fit to work.

The atos assessment was just a joke, they actually agreed it wasn't done right but the * still stood by their decision ( woman who done it basically lied on every section, saying my spinal curves were normal even though she never even looked at my back)

I dont know how the people who dish out these sanctions live with themselves. The only thing id say is that they have to create unemployment to stay in a job.
The rich employers have used this austerity culture as an excuse to cut jobs and conditions and they have made huge profits while the taxpayers take a hit. Its the low paid and enemployed who really suffer.

The basterds gave me a 3 month sanction for being 3 mins late signing on, The reason for being late was due to an appointment at work programme, Which they were aware of. The people that work in these places are jobsworth * and are a stain on the human race.

Been sanctioned for no looking for work as I was starting a job in a few days :56:

Also for filling my "work diary" in with a pencil :97: as thats the law apparently?. The old * got told where to shove the pencil and I got escorted out the premises. Appealed the desicion and won though got payed the money I was due.

Starting a new job in a few week and refusing to sign on what so ever just now. Hate the *.

Some of the people who work in the DWP and Jobcentres are the absolute scum of the earth.

Mr Eaton could have walked. No bus fare might be a reason to miss signing but it's not an excuse.

It's a job I wouldn't want, piling more misery on already desperate people. It takes a certain personality to enjoy that kind of work, although I would imagine some are decent too, maybe.
