Im mid way through writing a celtic book
Much of it is made up of supporters stories and funny tales etc. Anyway, as part of a chapter about the support im writing a subdivision 'special moments' picking out some top moments that celtic fans have been extra special.

ive written about the supporters identity and am including stories about extremes people have gone to for the club, funny stories, characters etc. but I think this may break up some of the story telling quite nicely.

These moments im looking to write about are when celtic fans have just been incredible in terms of colour and atmosphere in particular.

Off the top of my head im thinking of moments like:

    the display v barca
    YNWA v barca 2004
first time we did the huddle as a full stadium
roar after cadete goal blowing radio off air
    Four horsemen
    Ynwa Hillsborough match
Singing haha to tune of billy boys for first time during st paddy's day massacre in 1991
Here we go ten in a row v juve
    Beachball Sunday
18th min applause for Neil Lennon
    The food drive this year
Waving scarfs in pens v Valencia 2001
Motherwell game (atmosphere in losing title)
Cmon you bhoys in green v Kilmarnock

(these aren't neccessary what im including, theyre just an ecample of the type of thing im after)

anyway ive looked up a lot of extra special moments but im looking for anything that sticks out to you that I may not have thought of before and that you think would be worth an inclusion.

A moment that was unique, exceptionally loud etc.

I'm particularly interested in older moments. Perhaps a few unique moments from pre 1990s would be most interesting as there are loads of recent moments to write about as shown above.

    thank you hh

John Thompson's funeral is an old one that show how amazing we can be...

"Around 30,000 people went to his funeral in Cardenden (where he lived as a boy) on 9 September 1931. Lots of them had walked the journey of 55 miles from Glasgow. Another 20,000 turned out at Glasgow Queen Street station to watch two trains set off with two thousand passengers who could afford to pay the four shillings return fare"

1992, can't mind who we were playing but we were a couple of goals up at half time at home and ended up losing the game.

The jungle just burst into a absolute song fest, not giving a * what was happening on the park and just celebrating everything that was good about Celtic (which wasn't much at the time).

This continued all the way back to our bus and then on the bus.

We were crawling back through Alexandria parade and the bus was * rocking, defiance was ramped up to ten.

Anyway loads of Tims were walking along the Parade and one of them looks up to the top deck (where we were) and starts singing along with us and giving us the clenched fist in solidarity.

Bold yin on our bus is feeling the connection with the guy and slides open the wee windae on the bus (old style double decker with wee slide along windows) and squeezes himself as far as he can manage out the windae and starts singing the soldier song along with this guy on the street, real passionate stuff.

anyway, the daft * gets stuck fast in the windae, we had to get the fire brigade to come and get him out. :smiley-laughing002:

Good times, that was when being a * Tim actually meant something to people and not just the game of football some think it is today.

One moment I'll never forget in my life was when I was 7 back in 2003. Celtic were playing liverpool in the first leg of the quarter final and just as the game started my dad went into the kitchen to get some beers and as soon as he walks back in Larsson scores(I think it was like the first 50-60 seconds of the game I can't really remember) and he throws the beers all over the floor and my mum went * nuts but me and my dad were celebrating. :56: definitely one of my favourite games/moments as a celtic fan.

" ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE "

A song we adopted during the 90s.....it seemed to ease the pain...just a little bit :smiley-laughing002:

From the highs of the 1988 SCF to the lows of Raith Rovers in 1994, all part of being a Celtic supporter :50:

In terms of noise, atmoshpere and general euphoria I persoanlly would put the day we stopped ten against St Johnstone as No1.

From the feeling before the game, the atmosphere when we won and the street parties and impromptu celebrations that broke out all over the place. Amazeballs.

The 6-2 was a close second for me. With hindsight for me this was the catalyst and kicked of the chain of events that led to financial meltdown at Greyskull.

    Other ones that stick out.

    Seville
    Liverpool home and (especially) away.
3-0 game against the scum when i thought the North Stand was coming down :56:
    Cadete debut was brilliant.

On the flip side, weirdest experience and atmosphere was the semi V Boavista! Can mind being really charged for it beforehand, but it was like we were all * ourselve and were too nervous! Atmoshpere was really wierd and not what I expected.

Petrovs charity match, Infact every charity match we take part in we always sell out and make it a sensational night, which not many fans could come close to doing

The 4-2 Game, the feeling at half time and when wee Johnny got sent off, to the joy when Murdo let rip, was the best night ever in paradise

Think that was Dundee and their manager said the jungle.is just something totally unique. For me celtic is still much more than just football. I know a lot of fans dont care for the rebel stuff nowadays but the club still represents a mix of scotland and ireland and the irish diaspora so thats unique, still got the history, the charity work the fans increasingly do more of like the food drive, the atmosphere on big games electric, the unity , generally still left wing and also its a culture I think with the irish songs and songs like Willie maley totally unique

. but the away fans represent what it means to be a tim for me. Much more than footy, always singing irish songs, political, noisy, faithful through and through just superb. I think the home fans have definitely been sanitised but still a wonderful club.

Anyway great story cheers for sharing HH

The game against Inverness at Celtic Park, where the last 10/15 minutes of a pish game on and off the field turned into one of the best league game atmospheres. It was the first time the cross field chanting started too, along with a full stadium PMFA.
