Personally i think Hartley's "resurgance" has been grossly exagerated. In hindsight i think we should have kept Pearo. His driving runs in the parc de prince reminded me of what we miss and what hartley lacks.

I also think Caldwells performances in midfield as an anchor man should be noted. Perhaps its time to cash in on Hartley before its too late...

I think Hartley has been doing well enough lately, when played. Caldwell in midfield, no. Who would you drop for a start.

He has better tactical discipline defensively than Brown and Donati. Only other guy in our squad with that is Sno. A McGeady-Donati-Brown-Naka midfield is far too weak defensively except against poor teams and even looks weak defensively in ordinary SPL games. We will need to have Hartley or Sno on in all the tough games including CL and Old Firm. If Brown, Donati and Hartley all play then one will have to go wide. Personally, I would keep Brown in the middle and push Donati wider left but strachan usually pushes Brown wide. Hartley is not good wide, especially on the left. Hartley is our most on from midfielder the last two weeks and should keep his place.

Hartley used to play wide right when he was younger which could be a possible position for him in the SPL. In the CL i would prefer Hartley to play the Lennon role because he is more discaplined to that role than Donati or Brown. He has been getting surprisingly high ratings from all of the boys on TC considering the stick he got last year, but then again look at the praise Naylor got last year!

He does the small things correctly rather than the flashy stuff but you need a player like that. Hopefully he will get some of his Hearts goal/shooting skills back too cause he was an absolute general for them.

Hartley has always had it , it was just a matter of time until he came onto his game. I hope he keeps his place in the team.

Hartley has improved but is still not good enough! Done well in CL (Probably one of the only ones), but against Hibs he was marking space! We let Hibs play from the middle way to much, we where everywhere that the ball had just been!
