I have a feeling of dread that the signings everyone wants will be arriving soon, but they will be to replace some of our 1st team players.

I'm not sure why, but I have a feeling we'll be seeing some guys shipped out, some against their will, shortly.

Not just them there is a chain of events for us to sign a player not just one or two people.
And anyone who thinks the manager has no say about who we sign needs to wake up.

Yes and we know how rumours turn out...sometimes right but mostly bullshit from a mate who works with blah blah blah.
I dont see the manager wanting to get rid of our 20 goals a season striker, more so when no other striker is getting goals that often.

Taking a really optimistic view, one could hope that in taking the gamble to wait till we've qualified to attract players, this means the targeted players will be of a good standard.

That is taking a REALLY optimistic view, mind.

Very optimistic considering that was last years view also and that didn't turn out too well.

sorry dont mean to troll,ur post just got me thinking.heres 11 we've brought thru in that time:

    marshall
    caddis kennedy mcmanus crainey

    mcgeady miller henderson mcgregor

    forrest maloney

no too bad a team imo.if more youngsters got more game time i honestly think more would come good and stake a claim for a first team regular starting slot

I guess this is something we are going to have to get used to every year around this time. It says a lot about the standard of our players that we have players who interest other Clubs and who want to get them bedded n pre-season.

I can understand that we don't want to bring anyone in until we know whether or not we are playing in Europe in the coming season, however to have 3 1st Team regulars being widely touted for moves - Fraser, VVD and Efe, the spine of our defense - 48 hours before a CL qualifier is sooooo unnerving for us and has got to affect the players. Yes I know they play for the Hoops and all of that but if it doesn't have some affect on them, will be mightily impressed.

How Ronny deals with the situation, who come in, will be the first of many tests he will face and how he handles them will go a long way in determining his future with the Club and his status with the Fans.

Sadly we are the only show in town so every single window its the same and the papers have 50% of our team under offer and leaving.
Anyone who is worth a * will get linked with a move down south and only those inside the club know if its true or not.
Im sure the players and manager are used to it and will handle it just fine.

Yes we have,we have also used every * player at the club do you think he knows all the first team guys and subs and how good they are after 2,3 * friendly games that's just about fitness and two cl qualifying games.
I just think it takes time to * a team and sort out who you want to keep and sell and what the team needs and who can do what and where.
He also does not want to rush out and get some players in only to find out after some time other player is leaving.

Kennedy's been unable to play since really 2004. Not his or our fault, but it is reality. Crainey and Miller are dire. Henderson has proved nothing yet. A Maloney/Forrest forward line is the equivalent of playing two injury-prone feathers up front. It's a really bad team, mate, but that was my point.

McGeady, Marshall and Maloney are the only three players in the last 14 years that we have developed who are genuinely and consistently good enough to play for us. That's really bad.

Really? Uefa paid us 20 odd million back in the 12/13 season as well. 30 odd million with what? 5/6 million going towards reinvesting back in the squad?

We have massive running costs.. If we didn't make Europe for a few seasons we'd have to downsize or risk slipping into a lot of debt.

It's not just transfer fee's and player wages we pay.
