Lubo and Thompson. Mulgrew and Nakamura.

Couldn't stand Douglas taking some of them in the MON era. Utterly pointless to bring a GK up to take a corner.

Lubo's name will always be in the frame when talking about corner takers, but as has been already said it helps when you had the big strong men that we had in the team in that era plus the elusive Swede Larsson .
One of the thing that regularly annoys me in recent years is that when a corner is over hit we don't have a player in the back of the box to make the ball live again .

Barry Robson. In the year we won 3 in a row under Strachan, towards the end of that season, he was pinging in corners with accuracy and pace and consistency that I'd rarely seen anywhere in any league.

Charlie Gallagher, his corners in the last seconds against Dunfermline in 65 and Vodjvodina in 67 sent us on a wonderful wee journey.

I think if Jock were alive he would agree with me.:50:

If we're going far back, before my time then it has to be Charlie tully ..

Always remember stories of him scoring twice in a game after being told to re take it, scoring again straight after..

    How about that..

Maybe part of the problem we have this year is when Mulgrew takes a corner we have only three players who are good in the air and I am sure the opposition picks them up and then it's not easy .

Douglas took corners? That was slightly before my time so can't remember, but that's * mental!

    * me off that Mulgrew takes corners. He's good at them but he is one of our tallest players and one that can header it.

I'd like to see Griffiths taking them.

    * knows how Stokes has got the last few set pieces.

Yip - Mulgrew is the tallest outfield player I think, plus he's probably the best at directi g a header on target.

It should be Johansen and/or another outfield player like Stokes etc taking INSWINGING corners (* hate the outswingers)

How did you not know that!? Its always been the "celtic way" to use goalkeepers for corner taking... It was Strachan who put an end to it! Ronnie Simpson got 5 assists from corners on the road to Lisbon, when we won the big one in '67! Will never forget big bobo scoring the overhead kick against the huns from big rabs corner! Apart from that one time though, Douglas was a shocking corner taker- always over hit them! Johnathan Gould was our best goalkeeper to take set pieces in my opinion... More for his freekicks and penalties than his corners though!

In the squad now we only have 2 good players in the air really Van Dijk and Mulgrew and Mulgrew is also the best corner taker. Ambrose probably wins more than anyone in the air, probably even wins more than Mulgrew and Van Dijk combined but he can't head a ball must shut his eyes or * himself as he is a bit lightweight and it just bounces off his head. Lustig is good too but never goes in the box.

Not like it was a few year ago when we had Hooper who seemed to poach goals from near the keeper and Ledley, Wanyama, Mulgrew and Samaras.

Ambrose has a head like a 50p piece. Honestly one of the worst headers of a ball I've ever seen :smiley-laughing002:

Exactly what I was going to say! :56:

Its a real shame 'cos he's brilliant at getting in the right position to get on the end of the ball!

Johansen's a shout but can he get power behind it?

Griffiths is a master with a dead ball and we don't seem to be utilizing that as much as we really should. I cri evertim.

    Calm down dear. :smiley-laughing002:

Saying Naka wasn't great at taking corners is hardly leaving him without a name. I think Henrik Larsson was a * free-kick taker but he's the best player I've ever seen play for Celtic.
