I love the international games. Just wait until the end of this qualifying campaign. If Scotland have still got something to play for against Italy in the final game those tickets will be like gold dust.

If that all happens I'd step over my granny to get one.

I think those too young to remember Scotland or Ireland in a finals just dont get it. Its unbelievably exciting to get there. At least on a par with the CL games. The games Scotland played in the 1998 world cup and the 1996 European championship were such a buzz even though out team was a bit of a boring one under Craig Brown. There were a lot of Tims/ex-Tims in the Scotland team then inlcuding Lambo, Tosh McKinley, Burley, McNamara and Collins. It is more fun when more of your own clubs players are in the team but its not important and its easy to temporarily love the blue nose players too.

when scotland are in a match that means something ,there is no better event to get everyone standing together and cheering on scotland , the scotland team playing football is one of the last true scottish events we have left,

My birthday was on the day that Ireland played Spain. Ruined my day, but was still and unbelievable morning! And I still remember when Ireland beat Italy...unbelievable!!! My brother and I went absoluetly insane!! I love international matches. Whenever Canada plays I get excited and the same goes for Ireland. I was disappointed with the result today for Ireland though, should've been a victory, but good on Scotland for beating Lithuania. I just enjoy watching Canada or Ireland play just as much as I enjoy watching Celtic play. :shamrock:

Watching Scotland is exciting as *, it was bad watching when Vogts was here but being up in the standings with Italy and France is fantastic, love every minute.

I barely watch Canada play, they're just terrible. they stick with the same players, my brothers old metro team couldve whooped the Canada side.
And * is with Mitchell, how'd he get to be manager?

have u seen a handsome hun
to answer some of the points raised about me on this thread.

i am not a plastic paddie....i take it thats a reference to me possibly putting my support behing ireland as opposed to scotland.

as someone who has parentage from both scotland and ireland i could take the aiden mcgeadie route but i repeat i dont get off on watching anyone other than celtic.

i dont like internationals whoever is playing.... it stops me watching the club i love.

good on the supporter who'll cheer if kris boyd scores. but why say that as if it should be any other way.

glory hunter am i.... yeah my season ticket bought during the years when the huns were pishing all over the top of us for nine years should count for something.... unless your of an age that thinks celtic were formed for martin o'neil and henrik larrson. its not so easy to watch yer club when the mike galloways, and stuart slaters of the world are gracing the field.
while the laudrups and gascoignes are ripping the pish.

overall i'm glad i created this thread despite taking a few pelters. but i have my opinion on what floats my boat and watching internationals regardless of who's playing doesnt interest me.

can we now get back to celtic.

I love my country and love international games . France 98 was a fantastic experience. 3 weeks on the * in France superb. It was tough to get motivated for games under Vogts but we got through it and we have quite a good wee team now. Only problem yesterday sitting at the game i shouted "come on Celtic" , it just popped out and i wasn't even drinking. Think it was Scott Brown had the ball luckily no one lynched m lol

Said this in the other thread.

Would rather Celtic wins the CL than USA wins the World Cup. Even though it would validate the USA in the footballing world.

If Im to choose - Celtic relegation to 2nd division or World Cup to Poland, I go for World Cup, no hesitation. Sorry guys. Even though I love the club, Im Polish first, then Im a Tim. Thats the way it is around here. National team matches unite even those supporters that hate each other every other day. A National Team game day is a sort of holiday round here.

You can see these businessmen downtown, in a fancy car, wearing a * expensive suit and a red-and-white football scarf. You stop at the traffic lights, you see a National Team t-shirt displayed behind a back window of many cars. People commuting talk about the game 2 days prior to match. You go to a serious business meeting, and its natural if you hear a CEO saying "all right gentlemen, let's get over this quick so we get to the game on time".

For me I love watching Ireland play and always want to see Scotland and Wales win as well. But the fact is real legit games are few and far between. I hve little more then a passing interest in the freindly internationals. They are so boring and a total non event.
Having said that to watch the European Championship Finals or the World Cup Finals and the qualifiers for them is definitely something I get into. It's just that Celtic play week in week out and thats not the case with internationals at all and even less if you only count competitive games.

A plastic paddy is someone who possesses all/most of the irish stereotypes but lack actual "irishness". In other words, they try too hard to be irish, but instead, they look like a dumbass. I've seen too many of them haha.
