    Celtic are lining up a deal for highly-rated Benfica youngster Sancidino Silva, Goal understands.

    The 20-year-old has arrived in the United Kingdom and is set to join the Scottish Premiership club on trial with a view to a permanent move.

    The youth product of the Portuguese giants is out of contract at Estadio da Luz and has turned down offers of a new deal to stay with the club.

    A host of clubs have been monitoring the Guinea-Bissau international, with Greek side Olympiakos and Turkish outfit Besiktas both making offers for the forward.

    But a move to the UK is understood to appeal to Silva, who sources close to the player say is excited about the challenge of linking up with Celtic and is confident of completing a move to Parkhead.

    Silva would not require a work permit to play in Scotland, as he has a Portuguese passport.

    Celtic kick off their Champions League qualifying campaign against KR Reykjavik of Iceland at Parkhead on July 15.

    we had scouts at a lot of there games last year, did he play many games or any at all, i remember someone posted a list of scouts at there games and we always had someone there

    We were no doubt watching them.


    I remember Peter Houston saying in the paper that he was sent my Park and co to Portugal and Spain on a regular basis to watch U-19 tournaments etc.

    This boy looks decent, same background as Amido Balde. Guinea Bissau born with Portuguese citizenship, made his way through the youth teams of a big side in Portugal.

    Looks decent, sounds like half a steal getting boy like this for free after he's rejected his own club, benfica..

    The reality is, we give trials out for fun but pretty much all go no further than that..
