His inability or stubbornness to change formation and deploy any sort of tactics has cost him in the end.

He arrived and talked a good game a liked a lot of what he was saying but the football and the amount of dropped points this year hasn't been good enough.

He hasn't been helped by upstairs either a don't for 1 minute think he's signing out players or had much say in it, why would he sign 5 strikers incapable of playing in his formation, a don't think he's that daft.

Wish Delia all the best but am delighted he's off.

RESIGNATION ??? Aye sure the Celtic Pravda media - the ONLY reason this was released today was the simple fact that the Season Books are up for renewal. They must think we're all daft ? This board treat the fans with utter contempt!!!

I've quickly (and shoddily) translated from today's article in Norwegian paper "Dagbladet". Make of it what you wish :icon_mrgreen:

Lift your head, Ronny - Norway has better football than Scotland

    by: Morten Pedersen, Dagbladet

Ronny Deila won't be given a third attempt at taking Celtic to the Champions League. Of that he should be happy, as it opens the doors for better jobs.

When Celtic in a few weeks have won their second league title under Ronny Deila, and the fifth in a row since Glasgow Rangers became the very symbol for a lot of people of football's financial cheating/thievery - by the way a rather noisy bankruptcy which after the 2010/11 season (league champions) degraded them to the third tier of Scottish football - new dreams are supposed to be dreamed in the Catholic side of Glasgow.

The biggest part of that is of course that Celtic once again should participate in the Champions League. As for that bit, the Celtic fans are more Catholic than the pope himself. They are a big club, one should know (sarcastic statement). A massive football club with a huge following of fans from all over the world. But it isn't the size of Celtic which is the problem, it's the quality.

First and foremost of the squad.

    Secondly of the Scottish League.

Ronny Deila has failed in two CL-qualifications because Celtic Football Club, after the owners' systematic downgrading of the club's squad, do not belong in the Champions League. It is not because Ronny Deila is a poor coach/manager that this great, old, Scottish club first lost to Henning Berg's Legia Warsaw, got another chance because Legia made a mess of things for themselves, and then went on an embarrassing collapse against Slovenian team Maribor. Before the next CL-attempt ended in Malmø, and what was supposed to be the "plaster-prize" to save some face ended with two defeats against Molde.

The reason for that is exclusively that the players he has to work with are not competitive at the level the Celtic support expects them to be.

I believe the club sees what many people outside the Celtic support sees, that the team isn't good enough. That's why Ronny Deila was allowed to continue after the second CL-collapse late last summer. Nobody could have taken this team to the Champions League. Nobody. But a third attempt, and I'm quite confident Celtic will come short again unless the owners suddenly decide to invest in some quality in the squad, will not come about by itself at Parkhead.

And definitely not after a semi-final defeat against protestantic neighbor Rangers.

It wasn't necessarily a lot of quality in those good old neighboring clashes in Glasgow, I've seen Old Firms that resembled war more than football, but there were a lot of good footballers there. Now there's hardly any, if you compare with the level where Celtic fans feel they belong. And Sunday's match, the one that made it all boil over for the Celtic faithful after defeat on penalties, was nothing short of embarrassing.

I don't mean to offend anyone when I say that I'd rather watch Sogndal-Vålerenga, Sarpsborg-Stabæk or any other not-very-good Tippeleague match before Celtic-Rangers any day.

And that's where it's at. A claim I'd say is at least in the vicinity of truth. The highest level of Scottish football isn't any better than the highest level of Norwegian football. Celtic's national dominance confirms that. And in that perspective, Ronny shouldn't be sad that he's now sitting on redundancy.

His next job will be a step up anyways.

Ronny Deila will be linked to every Tippeleague club loosing faith with their managers, and looking for a new coach/manager during the season. That's only natural. It would also surprise me if Danish club Brøndby, a club that for sure will be looking for a new manager after this season, and who's already considering Dag-Eilev Fagermo (Norwegian coach), gets in contact with Ronny as well. Because it is no "shot and injured" Norwegian coach who's leaving Glasgow in May. I'm sure those two years at Parkhead have made Ronny Deila into a better, more hardened and not least more clear-sighted manager.

And that's why I have no doubts he will be given another job during the summer.

Seeing it that way, Ronny should only be glad.

No, Ronny had two great opportunities to get us to the CL group stages and he's partly to blame for the failure. Our squad was/is good enough to beat teams like Maribor and Malmo over two legs.

    I don't disagree with that sentiment :)

I'd provide you with a link, if it wasn't for the fact that Dagbladet is a leftist propaganda machine for the Norwegian Labour Party, and I don't want to generate more clicks for them than necessary :smiley-laughing002:

(And Morten Pedersen is by far the most shoddy, sensationalist, useless football pundit in the entire kingdom of Norway, let that be said)

Been thinking about this today and I think the board tool a calculated risk with Ronny.

The huns were gone for a few years and rather than throw money at a high profile manager to replace Lennon they knew any idiot could win the SPL with Celtic so took a chance on Ronny hoping to uncover the new Klopp. If when Rangers come back Ronny had developed countless players and Celtic were in a strong position then great and the board had saved money.

If not and which has been the case we have been winning the league and not much else then we have the excuse to get rid and funds will hopefully be available for a higher profile manager to take us forward and attract more players to us.

I am hoping this is what we have done and we can get someone like Moyes. Although if we end up with Hartley, Stubbs etc.... then what I have said above is all nonsense and we are just skint ha!
