I just really hope the fans don't turn against Deila after so little time in the job. He has to be allowed to put his own stamp on the team. I think it's pretty clear the formation he likes, and wants us to play, but we really don't have the players to play this as things stand. Unless Deila is given funds to try and implement his formation and style of play, it's impossible to judge him in my opinion.

hopefully Ronny isn't Nieve about Scottish football like pukki was. Its a different type of league than he's used to. I was just thinking ... What if his philosophy doesn't work in Scottish football?

I hope it does but I keep thinking Ronny is kind of Nieve at some level. Just how he approached that away game, putting in a guy he just signed 24 odd hours before. Then Mathews aswell. He gave away the 1st goal tonight which was sad to see. On the right side & had a decent game before it happened aswel !

I'm obviously in mourning right now haha

Mowbray had this 5 year vision, im sure Delia mentioned his vision for Celtic could take years too, maybe someone should have told him you dont get years to build a team here, you get weeks, if he rips the team apart and is only allowed to make loan signings, the damage could take years to fix, no real manager will touch this job with the restrictions Lawwell and co put on them

There is a big difference. Mowbray chose to rip the team apart, if Forster and Van Dijk leave, this will not be down to Deila, but dowm to the board. He hasn't ripped the team apart, and has had no backing to bring in new faces.

He said last night the team needs ripped apart, i see we are now linked with some 20 year old Irish full back who is being touted as Mathews replacement already, this is going to end up a total shambles.

This is no fault of Delia's, he never signed Gordon, he has no say in Forster and Virgil Van Chucked it' leaving either

This John Park * is another one that needs reeled in, hes travelling the world living the good life and we are signing pure * on his say so, i think the game is up for him as well

John Park is trying to find players that are going to cost us buttons. His job is made more difficult by the board also. He is trying to find Champions League level players with a budget similar to English Laegue 1 teams!

    Kyogo. A phenomenon
Not saying I agree (as a rule I don't - he's unearthed some real gems, but admittedly dross as well,) but the last line is a * gem. Like it.:smiley-laughing002:

The thing is, when this guy was appointed everybody was like "Ronny who?". Fans were told that this was a guy with an incredible vision of free-flowing attacking football, who hung around with Klopp for a few days and thus must be a genius.:smiley-laughing002::76:

He will win the league of course, but it's all smoke and mirrors.:90::48:

You have come to that conclusion only two months after his arrival at the club? Seriously? :smiley-laughing002:

A bad workman blames his tools

but i think Ronny has that right. the tools in question are the players who could not *' pass to each other. This has nothing to do with a system or tactics or following instructions.

players should know not to pass the ball to the opposition. Is Ronny really expected to teach these players how to pass a football ?

Every single one of our players should be made to come out and criticize their own performance in print.... a little bit of honest assessment is surely not too much to ask.

What conclusion? That he'll win the league? Of course he will. :60:

No, that it's all smoke & mirrors, and your initial sarcastic comment about Klopp?

It is all smoke and mirrors. The board has got the biscuit tin out and fans are being fleeced, but it has backfired spectacularly. Attendances will be paltry and shirt sales will almost certainly decline.:48:

And my other irrefutable point about Klopp stands. There wasn't an iota of sarcasm in my original, carefully crafted post. :huddle::veryhappy:

I would punt 7-8 players for now, and replace them with 6 quality + youth. We will probably get rid of the players I want to keep ie. Forster, VVD.

I would get 1 cb, 1 lb, 2 midfielder and 2 strikers to start with. Deila will for sure looking at young players, he need to be smart, get them young and cheap. But he better be careful touching the Norwegian market. At the moment in Scandinavia, I would be looking at the Danish league first, full of decent talent + some players from Sweden.

With that said, I wish that he has some players already lined up and that we see at least 2-3 players here before EL qualifier. Will not happen probably though.

Not a great start by all accounts but I will stick with him for now. He will really need to prove he can do it by going far in the EL.

The players wernt great last night and week but Lennon would have scraped through I think.

Not sure if anyone has posted this yet but from the daily rag

Only reason im posting is because it has quotes

Celtic boss Ronny Deila vows to rip up team and start afresh after Bhoys crash out of Champions League
07 August 2014 07:35 AM By Keith Jackson
DEILA admitted the current Celtic squad was not good enough after a gutless performance at Murrayfield saw them lose 2-0 to Legia Warsaw and crash out 6-1 on aggregate.

Dejected Celtic manager Ronny Deila at full time
RONNY DEILA watched Celtic crash out of the Champions League with a whimper last night – then admitted he has to rip up the team and start from scratch.

The Norwegian went into this do-or-die return leg against Legia promising to go out with all guns blazing but Scotland’s champions rolled over and ended up on the wrong end of a 6-1 aggregate tanking .

Deila admitted England keeper Fraser Forster – who threw his shirt to the fans on the final whistle – may now be on the way out, with Southampton at the front of the queue .

Record Sport understands Premiership vultures are also ready to swoop on defender Virgil van Dijk.

But the new boss insists the time is now right to conduct a complete rebuilding job on the side Neil Lennon left behind.

He said: “I have only been here for six weeks but right now it’s not good enough. That’s what I can see.

“We need to make the squad better by getting new players, which we are working on. But we also need to get more from the players here – and there is a lot of quality.

“They just haven’t shown it in the last two games but that’s my responsibility.

“I will need to build up a new team. That’s two years in the Champions League for Celtic but this year we’re not good enough – by far.

“We must do everything we can to make it different next year.”

Charlie Mulgrew leads the gutted Celtic players off the pitch at full time

Deila’s bold promises of a storming second-leg comeback failed to materialise at Murrayfield.

Instead, Celtic fell behind to a first-half goal from Michal Zyro before Michal Kucharczyk doubled Legia’s lead on the hour – sparking a furious response from the supporters.

But Deila said: “I haven’t changed too much. I’ve tried to play the players in the positions they are used to. They are not doing things so differently than before.

“But the squad is not the same as it was a year ago.

“I can count three or four players who are not with Celtic now.

“We have to improve but I need players to do that.

“We have some good players but I know what I want and I’m going to go for it the whole time.

“I understand that it is a big job and I have a big task in front of me.

“I have to accept that the level wasn’t there. We have to build from there. Of course it’s my responsibility but I also need time to get my ideas over and get the players I want.

“We are working every day and I just have to say I am disappointed – the performances were not good enough.

“It’s two weeks in a row and we were a little better tonight.”

Asked again if he plans to build an entire new team, Deila said: “I see that we have to do a lot of things differently.”

This was a pitiful Celtic performance which leaves them heading into a play-off to rescue a place in this season’s Europa League.

Deila admitted his team got what they deserved and said: “We lost to a better side. The players were fighting all they could but we didn’t have the quality to break them down.

“The second goal was poor defending so we have a lot to work on.

“But also I have to accept that it is our level right now and we have to work from here. We can still win the league and get into the Europa League as well this season which would be a very good achievement.

“Then I hope we can stand here next year and talk about happier things than this.

“Right now, of course the team is not good enough for this level. We also have some injuries and I was very glad to see James Forrest come on today because he has pace and is different.

“He is positive and on a very black day I’m pleased to see positive things.

“I’m not embarrassed but I’m not satisfied. I feel really sorry for the players.

“We have to bring the best quality in now with the money that we have. I know that the club wants to improve the squad.

“It’s not easy to explain why we played the way we did tonight.

“We did okay at the start and got the crowd with us. That was good.

“But we played too much backwards, sideways and that was too slow.

“People were afraid to make mistakes and there was not enough movement in front of the ball.

“In two weeks we play for the Europa League. If we get there that’s very important for us as well.”
