MacDonald's play reminds me of a certain number 7 we had!! The way he holds the ball, comes deep for the ball, chases down defenders, if he learns to be as lethal in front of goal we could have found another 650k bargain!

Although I am an optimist I am also a realist. I know what we are capable of but I also know football and it never throws up exactly what you expect.

Never say never cos never is a long time.
I never thought I'd see Celtic in another European final, but it happened.
If we ever do get to the CL Final then it will be a magnificent feat as I think it's harder to win the CL than it was to win the European Cup. That is taking nothing away from our win in 67 which was, in it's day, a mountainous achievement.
You never know. A few years down the line when we've pocketed a few of those 10 million pounds payouts we might just have the dosh to compete with the elite clubs of Europe. Here's wishing.

nope. for me he's another kenny miller. he runs about like a headless chicken and his work rate is fantastic (he has a far better touch than miller also) but his finishing so far has been * poor. if he continues like that he wont get 20+ goals a season.

    look at our previous strikers over the last 15 years;

pierre, cadete, di canio, henrik, viduka, sutton, hartson, bellamy.

we have no one in that class at the moment.

The group stages arent our limit.. Sure we might have surrendered a goal in the CL match last night but how often do we do that?

Plus we got an away result as well. So to discredit one you gotta credit the other.

I think Spartak were better last night than in the 1st leg and the whole match was full of the unexpected. For awhile we battered them and missed loads of chances and when they went down to 10 men they lost it for a bit and still we couldn't score. We should have buried them. To be fair I think McDonald was a bit unlucky. He played well and was getting the service (Although Wilson needs to work on his crosses) but Lady Luck was still in the dressing room for the 2nd half.

Credit should go to the whole team though and also the coaching staff. The supporters were terrific too.

I think Killen would have been a better option than Big Jan for the last quarter of the match or even sticking Deeks up front with Skippy. Still, all's well that ends well.

Let's give him a chance before writing him off eh? He's had 3 games and i think,as i have stated, that his play outwith the box reminds me of Larsson. If memory serves me right it took Henrik 6/7 games before he broke his duck and he was a donkey in his first game!!

Henke67, i hope to * that you are right and a CL win is just over the horizon.

    Hail Hail

The problem is that they think big Jan is like Hartson when he is not. Jan's game is not all on aerial ability and strength, he's like big Viduka is the respect that he is a tall footballer who can actually play the game and isn't just a heid the baw player. And I think if the service was better from the likes of Naylor, Wilson and McGeady then he would score more goals.
IMO he played well last night, I mean the bottle he has to take that 2nd pen is quality.

Our Away form has to improve this season in the CL, if it does we will progress to the last 16 and if we can avoid Spanish/Italian opposition then who knows

As ive already said we need a new decent striker, Hesselink isnt performing at all he needs to maybe get dropped to the bench for a game or two, maybe that will give him the kick that he needs..

i think he can be a real good stricker with a good run of games he was in and out last year but you can see glimpses of class with a few more games in a row this year jvoh will be the man i do think he needs better service from the wings not just naylor crossing and hoping it finds a player

Yes wasnt his greatest game but im confident he can do wel for us.

Yet he should great courage to take a penalty after missing one a few minutes previous. Well done
