billy sharp and aron johansson are recent ones (last couple of years) that spring to mind. goal ratios of 2.4 games and 2.5 games respectively compared to hooper of 2.5 games before joining us.

those are just players where there seems to have been some kind of link to us. im pretty sure there have been plenty more in the player suggestion thread

What people question with players and their records, is always reasonable, because every player coming to us is an unknown quantity. In the case of Hooper, we don't have the conjecture of a new addition. We have seen him play in Scotland. We know his strengths and weaknesses. We don't need to imagine how he will settle, or how his skill set will adapt to the Scottish game.

The point you are making is moot.

Not before joining us, can't just discount a very good record. If you add in Hoopers record with us, his record dwarfs them.

Neither have been top goalscorers for a Premiership team either, Hooper has.

And absolutely everycunt wanted Johansson, we all knew that was pie in the sky.

Would love Hooper back, the only thing for me here is that he himself has not mentioned anything at all about moving anywhere or even talking about us.

He seemed prety delighted on twitter when Norwich got promoted about the prospect of PL football.

Until he comes out and say he wants back i cant look too much into it, hopefully his best mucker Commons can have a word in his ear :celt_2:

again, i think the point is being missed. was hooper not an unknown quantity the first time we signed him then?

few people didnt want johansson and plenty dismissed him previously in player suggestions

and to understand the point im trying to make, you need to discount hoopers record before us.

the point im making is that players with similar records to hoopers before joining us, have been discounted because of the level they were playing at. if the same attitude was taken about hooper at the time, then we would never have signed him

Lemon, what are you on about, mate?

If we were looking at a player whose record was as follows (say he played for Red Bull Salzburg during the time he played for us), then we'd all want him:

    League 1 - 2 in 4
    League 2 - 11 in 19
    League 1 - 24 in 45
    A. Bundesliga - 20 in 26
    A. Bundesliga - 24 in 37
    A. Bundesliga - 19 in 32
    Championship - 19 in 34
    Premiership - 6 in 32
    Championship - 12 in 32

It's an absolutely pointless hypothetical question anyway because we know how good he is. Why would we pretend that we don't?

As Devlin said, if you start expunging parts of a player's career, you can make them look better or worse than they actually are.

    :31:

players with similar records to hoopers before joining us have automatically been written off because of the level they have played at (even hooper was by some on here)

we know how good hooper is, because we took a gamble on him, despite the level he was performing at

but we cant take a gamble on a player with a similar record at similar levels?

does no one else see the double standard in this type of thinking?

we didnt know what hooper would do with us before we signed him

the same as we dont know what other players with similar records will do with us....but for some reason theyre not good enough because theyve been playing championship/league 1

But what does that have to do with Hooper coming back here or not? Why would we dismiss his record for us when that's the question?

    I'm properly confused here :56:
