glad to see that mick and gaz are reunited in the centre of defence. that was the pairing that played well last season before gaz,s injury.
they compliment each other well...... its all good.

Yeh despite what some folk say about Caldwell I think it's the best partnership, they looked rock solid last season when the played together and really do compliment each other.

Yeh that was the one game Caldwell let himself down, not the first goal because that could've happened to anyone, but he sold the jersey for the second

I think JFK is a good defender but his positioning is awful which leads to Mick being streched everywhere and the partnership just doesnt work.I'd love a classy experienced CL defender to partner Mick but for now him and Caldwell look solid.Long ball passing from Caldwell is shocking but hes good at the basics.

I wasn't pleased when I saw Caldwell on the team sheet yesterday but he impressed me, he was solid and the lad has a * footballing brain, he doesn't boot the ball foreward with every chance he gets. Adds patience and organisation to our game

I just think its great that Celtic have so many Scottish guys to call on now! Brown,Mick,Caldwell,Wilson,Kennedy,Pressley,Hartley,Brown,Miller and Riordan! Caldwell played well on saturday as did the rest of the scottish contingencey! TBH I don't care who plays at the back as long as they put in a decent shift, JK,GC,SM and SP could all and will play essential roles this year! Still.....1st choice CBs for me are GC and SM!

Mick and Gaz? All we need is Danny and we'll have all of Supergrass in our defence.

I think we ahve to give JFK games before we can judge him. He has been out for three years remember. If he gets back to anywhere near his previous level then he will be better than Caldwell.

Gary did do well in what i saw in the highlights.
But every CB needs some time atm as Gary lacking fitness, JFK been out 3 years, and i think o'dea should still get a chance as he wasnt really giving a proper shout when he did what he to do

The difference between Caldwell and JK is that Gaz plays through the midfield and not over them. No coincidence that yesterday was our best footballing display of the season so far.

Caldwell did do ok on Saturday, as did McManus, and Kennedy still needes games to get his fitness up, but for me, and this may be controversial, I think O'Dea is our best defender. I have said this before on the forum and I stick by it. If he is played at centre back, I think he is our best defender bar none.

Didn't see the hearts game but Gaz's passing was terrible against Aberdeen. He constantly punted high balls that went straight through to their keeper, not even giving our forwards the chance to win the header.

For me having a footballing centre half is great but having one that defends well is more important. If JFK is the better at defending, and if he gets back to his previous form he will be. Then he should play. Leave the footballing to the midfield and strikers.

ATM ithink it hard to judge o'dea as he hasnt palyed regulary enough and was really just the milan games where he did great.
He seems a no nonese defendeer with a bit of skill. I hope he sees more match time this season or i tihkn he mgiht leave
