Can players not roam from their positions? You are looking at it too black and white in my opinion. When Stokes is playing left wing just now, it doesn't hinder Izaguirre getting forward. Robben and Ribery I would class as wingers as well. You can still cut inside and be a winger.

Then we're talking about the same thing but just disagree about what wingers are. They have two very distinct jobs for me and it's a job that wingers don't have.

I got the impression that you think it should only really be wingers that go the byline and put crosses in. That is what I'm getting at by seeing at black and white. I disagree with that. I think you can still play with wingers, and have full backs overlapping. I would say both Stokes & Samaras operated as left wingers, but have far different playing styles. One hindered Izaguirre going forward as he didn't look to link up, the other one suits Izaguirre to a tee.

I don't think so, wingers operate on the wing for me, they take men on they get to the byline, they beat mean. The job Stokes has is to offer space out wide for the full back, create and to support the striker.

That's just not a winger for me but fair enough, I can see why you'd take winger as somebody who plays out wide. We're being pedantic just now.

I hope he does sign a new deal.

It's easy to think from our perspective that he's an unfit, somewhat lazy and greedy player. But from the oppositions point of view, he's a dangerous player that can rocket in a shot from anywhere on the pitch.

Expected the Guidetti deal to be announced this week on the PR offensive from the Club. This one probably easier for them to achieve right enough.

This will be our last minute transfer deadline "exclusive". :smiley-laughing002: :54:

Still happy if it's true. * stupid to let someone like Commons leave when we are still fighting on four fronts.

A team with a little bit more left in the tank . Getting to domestic final was just what was expected of such a talented team . Maybe if they had an average age of two years less all round they could have finished the season properly. Which maybe proved. How this team fell down is the reason why Commons two contract is a risk .

They wouldn't have. The only problem Martin O'Neill's team had was that it was a fantastic first 11 and a rather poor squad. It relied on young untested players and players like Momo Sylla and Stephen Pearson as back ups.

The first team was high quality, the rest weren't. Which is the reason they were * by end of the season, we had nobody to realistically replace them in the squad.

With a squad full of highly rated , if perhaps ageing stars , I am sure a manager with the motovational skills of M O'N should have been able to from time to time replace an ageing star or two with a younger less skilful player without weakening the team in most games . When you a team of players with this exceptional ability falling short on all fronts it explains the clubs unwilliness to give Commons a two year contract until he is almost 34 . The easiest decision would be to give him the two deal , but would it be wise ?
