Derek McInness made a point tonight as well, when he knows Commons is on the pitch he changes his team to try and counter him.

They change their style, they're scared. Every team in Scotland is. Commons is good enough to play with the attention on him (the 3 times he got halfed first 10 minutes didn't stop him today did it?) and it allows the others to take care of the space they've got due to his presence.

When was the last time we saw Johansen with so much space in a game?

Not necessarily. Pace and width can be provided by overlapping full backs. Kris is ideal as an inside forward cutting inside.

What I realized tonight is for a lot of these domestic games pace is not as necessary. Most of the game is on the opponents half anyway.

    Gordon
    Lustig van dijk denayer izzaguire
    Brown Bitton
    Commons Johansen Stokes
    Guidetti

Team to face the Huns and inter. Would be happy with Henderson in instead of bitton or stokes

I hate to say it, but you used to see the same with McGeady when they would double up on him, denying him space to do defenders.

Johansen doesn't bring 9 shots on goal... Johansen played well in the position he was in tonight.

Commons is number 1 in his position.

Perhaps but in that case we need a right back who can be effective in the final third as well. Matthews isn't good enough.

Lustig is more than good enough but he misses as many games as he plays.

Maybe not. But he might create some more opportunities for other players to have a pop at goal. Fair enough 9 shots at goal but he didn't score.

Aye, a lot of our goals under Strachan happened because they tried to double up on McGeady and Naka.

Without Commons we get defended in a kind of zonal system and we're quite bad at breaking that down, both County and Dundee United dome that.

Give them something to focus on, to be scared about.

Thought he really put down a marker tonight.

He's still got at least two years in him, even if we don't use him in every game.

No dilemma give him his 2yr deal.

We've offered him a one year deal is that correct?

Well, if a one year rolling deal is good enough for our managers, then if Commons REALLY wants to be here at Celtic it should be good enough for him.

    IMO.

Great performance tonight from Kris that deserved a brace of goals at least, and that will have made many people think we can't afford to let him go now. Commons has always been a very intelligent and composed player, has a great shot on him, marvellous technique and the build of a Maradona.:smiley-laughing002:

I still like to see him played in the hole just behind the strikers, think that is his best position.

Keep him please Ronny, as Kris is excellent with penalties too.:50:

It's not a rolling deal. It's a one year contract.

    So is a "rolling-deal" technically.

Apparently a structured contract, meaning with the possibility of extension beyond one year if conditions are fulfilled
