    Aye they are extremely pointless. Many Universities in the U.S. are abandoning end of year examinations and instead implementing smaller 'tests' throughout the year, which basically helps you learn.

    My history professor is big on this - has done it to us this year. Then last week he told us because its university policy he has to give us an exam but he just told us what the questions were. :smiley-laughing002:

    He said that he sees no merit in a glorified memory test and that in his job, nobody is waiting to examine him on his work at the end of the year, so he won't do it do us - its pointless. So he told us to just go and prepare nice essays and give him something good to read.
