EPL is a pipe dream! This league whilst may look exciting. Is the final nail in the coffin for true football fans! Just watched a few vids on YT today on St Pauli. So refreshing to see fans that care more about their club and their values, than the desperation route of gathering millions in a prostitute way! Obviously as a club of our standing and the Champs league we want to improve all the time. The facts are we are currently playing in Scotland's top league. We represent Scotland in the Champs league on a regular basis. Do we really want to represent another country at this level. For me, it's no. So the only way out is a Euro league. Which I'm not sure how that would work? So for now, it's make do with what we've got. Hopefully the other teams in our league will gather momentum and improve.

Do you know how many points these teams have contributed? And when exactly was the last time they did so?

Why is it silly to say other clubs playing in Scotland have contributed nothing? Again, when is the last time they have contributed anything? You can't blame Celtic for having an identity and an attraction, and the rewards which that brings, which no other club playing in Scotland can boast.

I'm sorry you find it 'disgusting'. But I think it's a far more honest and accurate assessment than people kidding themselves on about Scottish football 'not being that bad'. I can't remember the last time a team based in Scotland got past the pub teams in the early European qualifiers (outwith Celtic obviously). I think this season Hibs were humiliated against Malmo and St Johnstone were eliminated against FC Minsk. I just don't think people can be serious when they say Scottish football is decent and improving.

I watch Celtic because I love the club. I would get excited watching them train and play friendly matches. It's just unfortunate that they play in a corrupt footballing backwater, and it's because I love the club that I want that to change sooner rather than later, rather than stagnating.

They still achieved the same as what we have though - in recent times? Yet, they jizzed the best part of a billion pounds doing it. :smiley-laughing002::52:

I get the jist of what you really mean though.

    Edit: For Saxon btw,

We've as much chance of winning the big cup now as we do starting from the bottom of the English leagues. Money doesn't garuntee anything.

Don't think anyone on here would dispute that Saxon ( if you don't mind me asking how old are you ?). I remember not that long ago watching City in the third tier of English football and they got from that to what they are now without moving to another country.

Pretty confident we would still pump them over two legs though.

Are you suggesting that fans of clubs south of Scotland don't care about their teams? I support Liverpool and I care greatly about them. I care about them so much I want them in the best league possible to do them a justice. I want them in a league where they can attract the best players and can compete against the best in Europe. I dont consider myself a sell out and I think I love my club as much as you love yours.

Can they? Their record suggests otherwise. The European Cup has already graced Paradise, so I think our credentials are a little stronger than City's. :bbpd:

You've not been in the CL for 4 years.

    :smiley-laughing002:

What was the score last two times we've played you?

He was probably referring more to the likes of Cardiff and Hull, I think, mate.

And that includes Celtic's home attendances, and the massive away crowds which must somewhat swell the numbers of the smaller clubs?

With the greatest respect though SAXON how often do you have folk telling you Liverpool would be better in another league!?

If you care about soccer that much why would you have even supported Liverpool over the last 20 years surely you would have been better supporting Man Utd. As they were a better team than Liverpool.

Kids support teams they watch, generally with their dads at a young age. People don't watch SPFL as it's so bad and so they'll never be introduced to Scottish teams. We'll end up like football mad countries in the Far East. Swamped in all the quality leagues, to the detriment of our own domestic game. Of course the best team in Asia, Japan has a football culture driven by the J-League primarily and not the Premiership. That is no coincidence.

Today a kid could have supported Hibs, Arsenal and Everton for example at an early age to end up at Hibs, but in the near future they'll know little of Hibs and the decision will be between Arsenal and Everton.

You can't hide from it. Scottish football is a very poor standard. So it's "similar" (I don't believe that, Norway and Sweden are better on average) to countries with a population similar to ours. So what. Scotland has a football culture unlike our small northern neighbours. We have a larger football playing public, we can play football all year round, we have football pitches in ever village and town and should be doing so much better than them.

Iceland are better than us internationally, that's crazy. We should be like a Uruguay of Europe.

They pump a lot of money into youth development now. Something we can't do. There is so much money there that they can (and do) plan for the future even if that isn't on the news all the time.

Just look at the work Manchester City are doing all the way down, it's quite incredible.

Joining that football environment would be a benefit to Scottish clubs.

There is nothing to say they will always be better. Paraguay has never really been better than Scotland. Still, their league is tiny and very poor yet they have more good teams and probably a higher average technical ability than we do.

Both do have football cultures (that is what I have said. It's stupid to compare us to Norway as they don't have a football culture like we do) so obviously something has gone very wrong in Scotland.

Made in Ireland is right. Celtic may be this football behemoth here that (for now) masks Scotland's problems but we can't survive forever in this environment. If Scottish football stays stagnate like it is now it will begin to die. It's just that we will be the last to go.

I love this club and want it to win things and it's because of that fact that I would want Celtic to play in the Premiership or England given the chance.

It is hysterical that a club that has spent £1bn can't progress past the Round of 16. :smiley-laughing002:

What do you mean, Celtic's home attendances, that was without them? :smiley-laughing002:

You are correct though in saying that we still swell the numbers due to our away following. But still, those are great figures.

I am from Liverpool and my dad took me to the match when I was knee high to a grasshopper I used to also have a season ticket.

I can though understand your response to the suggestions that you should leave your current league as it's'no good'. I dont think slating Cardiff is fair tbh. You watch the next time the broadcast rights come up Celtic will be given a ticket to the BPL if they want it

My point is you can take those kind of attendances figures with a pinch of salt. The support of a club like Celtic completely masks the true story in my opinion. Take away the Celtic figures (home and away games) and the lists place Scotland behind countries with similar * leagues! I don't know what it's supposed to show.
