These players are on celticfc.net listed as our midfielders, I just added McGeady too to that bunch.

    Brown
    Hartley
    Sno
    Gravesen
    Donati
    Jiri
    Naka
    Lawson
    Ferry
    McGeady

Basically Jiri and Tommy won't get a game again I spose, Lawson's already 23 and I'm not sure if he'll cut it, Ferry's 19 and most likely won't be a much used player this season.

That reduces our midfield to 6 players:

Naka Hartley Donati Sno Brown McGeady

With Naka and McGeady as starters, we only got one "winger" on the bench (Hartley) ? What's happening when Donati and Brown weren't able to play?

I think we still need some cover, it could be a very long season for our core squad, so fresh legs would be very handy. Plus some competition is never wrong, it might push players to the max or make them rethink their attitude.

To the Tommy and Jiri case: we either get rid of them as soon as possible and refill their places in the dressing room or give them some (game)experience from time to time.

    What do yous think?

I think Jiri and Gravenson have to go if only to free up some money to bring others in. We cannot afford the luxury of having these type of players here only to be bit part players. The problem will be off loading them to clubs willing to pay their wages.

As we get closer to the window shutting and CL money i think we will add another midfielder possibly Maloney . Gravesen and Jarosik wont want to do nothing for 6 months as they haven't even been on the bench so they will eventually leave

I'm more concerned about the lack of full-backs. Doumbe, Naylor & Wilson are all we have, and if more than one of them is out for whatever reason, we are f *cked.

I think Sno and Bjarnssen will be cover for brown and donati and also Bjarnssen can play wide left aswell if jarosik gravesen and bobo go that will free up 100 grand a week wages almost i think thats what wgs is waiting on...

We have far too many central midfielders. We need a wide player more than anything else. Naka and Aidan usually start. That only leaves Deeks as cover and he has said he doesnt like playing wide left in a 4-4-2. So, we basically have no pacey wide player at all as cover. I would take Maloney back (dont restart the debate please) or any other fast, versatile wide player of the same quality. It will cost a lot of money to get similar quality to what we lost when Shaun went. Aidan is certainly not as good as Shaun yet.

When does it shut? We probably only have the time between the 2nd leg v Sparta and the deadline if Lawell is waiting to see if we qualify before bringing out the chequebook.

Window shuts end of august, and it would be good to shift some the non-performing players we have before we bring in any new faces.

So that is just a couple of days after the 2nd leg. Any contracts would have to be set up now but with a proviso that we qualify for CL. Even if we sell JJ, Grav and Magic, I am not convinced we really need anyone for the CL other than a winger and maybe left back cover. If WGS is not targetting a winger he is blind.

I feel he either won't be here after the transfer window has shut or he won't get a game.

I'm not really impressed by Bjarnssen so far (based on his preseason games) but he's still young, however he won't be a valuable cover for our wingers especially in europe.

Obviously it depends on the spartak game and a possible ucl spot if we get some more (quality) players. I just hope there will be a winger along the new singings.

Teddy has looked good but i do think we need another wide player. hartley can play wide but has played his best stuff (admittedly not for us) in the centre.

I'm not worried about leaving it late, have we not got a week between knowing we are through or not and the deadline. That is the time when loads of deals are done as teams get desperate to offload players they don't want and others get desperate to sign players. So asking prices and offers get closer and closer.

I don't think our transfer dealing are done by a long way. I'm very hopeful that 3 out of the 4 of Graveson, Jiri, Magic and Balde will be out the door. I have a feeling that it will be Bobo that we can't get rid of for some reason...

Woudnt say that McGeady isnt as good as Maloney, they just play different styles.

McGeady is more trickyand beat a player with skill. Maloney does have the skill, but is more about pace.

It was good when we had both because when one of them wasnt playing well we could bring on the other one and that would pull us out of the *.

Would definetley keep with McGeady, he is showing that he has the qualities to be our top winger. Just every1 seems to get on his back a lot more than others when things go wrong. Because he does try the tricks it doesnt look too good when he loses the ball. Also, if tehy bring back Maloney, what sort of message does it give McGeady who showd Celtic loyalty by signing the long term contract, if Maloney comes strait bak into the team.

Bjarnasson looks quality, hopefully he will get a few runouts this year. Lookd really good in centre mid.

Think he will finish his carear at united.

As for our midfeild i think it is perfectly fine IF the four we started with at Patodrie play to their best and do not get injured.

In terms of replacements, wether he likes it or not Riordan is more than capable and i think Teddy would be decent cover to , Sno perfect for a defensive role and Tommy G if needs be

Well there is Teddy, plus Deek who is very comfortable on either wing (as long as we don't see him). Apart from that we have enough in midfield i think.

But WGS is probably gonna sign a few Trinidad midfielders soon. He's been linked with a trio of T&T midfielders.
