Even though I was a big fan of Ledley's his defence splitting passes were few and far between.

You could see Johansen's resemblances with the Modric style of play at his previous club (yes yes videos and YouTube I know).

Would be immense if he could keep that up here and still look the same.

Anyone who's seen Johansen play in all games for us so far, would Biton and Johansen compliment and combine well? Or is Johansen more of a deep lying player that won't get forward much?

The izzy pass was his favourite, izzy always offered the run but he could easily switch it up aswell..

i think the izzy pass is the favourite for about 90% of the team at the moment.

Exactly,it wasn't a slagging, izzy always offers a run and space and no coincidence he's our top assister..

I thought Brown and Johansen looked comfortable playing together, I think he and Biton would be fine also. Today, Johansen broke forward alot. He was everywhere actually, a great passer but full of energy. Refreshing.

Speaking of Brown, His game has come on leaps and bounds over the years, hasn't it? His passing is as good as it's ever been.

Agreed,he's so comfortable on the ball,a total contrast to the broony of old..

By the way i hate comparisons of players to those likening johansen to modric,I know it can't be helped sometimes but linking some of our players to world class ones can put them on a pedastal to failure..
Lets just for now be pleased with johansen and how hes faired so far..

Johansen looks like a real box to box player with a great engine.

Got forward quite a lot and showed good potential for forward passes - but like Rogic, Commons and all our other creative mids he suffers from having zero intelligent movement in front of him.

Anthony "offisde" Stokes we're looking at you mate.

Johansen also sat back in the last bit of the game and pulled the strings from deep, allowing Brown to get forward. All in all was a very impressive debut, it's an early shout of course but I think he'll do the business in Europe. Seems disciplined and technical enough but with good pace and vision to burst us up on the counter attack.

Did Lennon mention anything about him after the game?

Griffiths will see to that. He is always buzzing around making runs.

Hopefully. I think one big reason Lennon's signed him is he's not scared to shoot from far. Commons is the only other player in our squad who's not * scared of hitting the ball.

Johansen had a couple cracks which weren't great but it's nice to see people at least trying.

Commons gets slated for sending a couple flying over every match - but he scores at least 1 most matches as well.

His passing is excellent that is clear to see. Much faster than I expected as well to be honest.

Reminded me of Kayal, a bit, the way he seemed to be everywhere. Didn't let the opposition rest.

Spent a bit of time just watching him on Sunday. Clever movement, excellent passing, a calm head, got forward when necessary. Early days but he's quite an exciting prospect.

Has anyone said "Good player - I hope Lennon doesn't coach it out of him" yet?

    :celt_2:

Looked assured at the weekend. Very mobile. I'm not used to someone making a pass then sprinting into space much to be honest.

    Keep it up Stef. :50:

Thought at the weekend his style of passing looked a bit weird, almost like he wasn't confident he was going to be able to kick it as far as he needed to. Gets results though, that's all that matters. Looks very impressive so far. :50:
