Dont worry. We wont be paying 6m and Hudderfield wont demand 6m for him. Even the hudderfield fans are laughing at that pricetag. Its a competetive era now when you have to pay to get a good striker, and its time to do that. Just look what happened with not replacing Hooper.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon will take a second look at Huddersfield hitman James Vaughn tonight, but will have to find around £6m to buy him. (The Record)

I don't care what anyone says about the Championship & Hooper, £6m for James Vaughan is ludicrous. There're far more talented Eredividie, Turkish Süper Lig, Swiss Super League and Austrian Bundesliga players available for that price. You could probably pick up the top goalscorer or one of the top goalscorers in each for £6m.

    Wanyama. Ambrose. Van Dijk. Lustig.

Aye, I'd say all that European talent is doing well for us.

For £6m, why not bring in Hosiner, Soriano, Zulechner, Josef Martínez, Aron Jóhannsson, Graziano Pellè, Sigþórsson or someone of that ilk? Maybe even a couple of them?

    £6m?! * off!

We'd be doing very well if we got a player like Pelle

We'll be alright with what we have i reckon, but i think we get good value in England. £6million isn't a price we could go to, but they are the kind of players who could make an impact in Europe and in the league.

They know the British style, they've had a brilliant football education. Basically you get a player who's ready to come straight into the side, and are a bit greedier, a lot more fierce than say Pukki.

Really, we should have signed Vaughan in the Summer, for sweetie money. So maybe that deal has passed us by.

Danny Ings, well you never know. Maybe he's the better of the two, but we're on the right lines, if these are the types of player we're looking at.

Fair enough. For £6m we could get a proven European goalscorer. Some of the guys I've mentioned are a goal a game or better in leagues of a higher standard than our own.

Lennon saying he'll buy from the British market is exactly what i didnt want to hear right now. British players in general are very pricey and overrated, for example we have no creativity in midfield at all skillful spanish player is exactly what we need in behind the strker. There's loads of quality in lower La Liga and most of those clubs are skint, as swansea showed when buying Michu.

I get what you're saying and that market should be looked into too, but, Danny Ings, on 16 goals and 7 assists in 23 games, and who last played for the England Under 21's a couple of weeks ago. Is anybody really trying to say that that would be a bad signing?

I don't know a lot about Ings, to be fair, I don't watch a lot of English football, but he looks good on paper for a 21 year-old (I thought he was older).

I wouldn't pay more than a couple of million for Vaughan though. He might be a very decent player but we should be looking at players who are already very decent and have the potential to be one of the top players in Europe (like Forster, Van Dijk & Matthews). Vaughan's 25, he'll never be anything more than a good player. That's not to say he wouldn't be valuable to us but if we really want to progress as a club, "good" isn't good enough. We need "special". Maybe Ings fits the bill.

If we can get Ings for a good price, he will be a cracking signing. People are forgetting a certain Mr Hooper scored heaps down there and wasn't overrated or overpriced... as long as we do our business in January before he goes on to score 30 and the big guns in the EPL come in... we can do a good deal maybe £2.5 million.

A dnt think hoopers that good an all round player tbh. He's not a top striker, he's a good finisher. Im talking about bringing in players who can actually create against top level opposition in europe rather than having to play constant crosses into the box like we seem to have to resort to against better teams. Theres players in la liga and the bundesliga even at the very bottom who you can just tell are a complete handful. Players like lass bangoura at vallecano causes even real and barca problems with his pace. Interest has dropped in him in the last year or so and he is from the same club as michu, who as i said previously are skint and would snap at a bid of over 2m for any player. Pedro leon at getafe is another who actually got a move to real but couldnt cut it there, i'd take him in a heartbeat and i'm sure he would jump at the chance to play CL football.

Its all about money making with the board and they have showed in recent years that they couldnt give a * about the fans

Pierre-Michel Lasogga & Adrián Ramos, both at Hertha, both valued at £4m by Transfermarkt.

Would be good if we could but let's not forget the inflated prices in the championship as from a club who squeezed 7 mill out of Southampton what 2 years ago..
Let's remember that hooper was at a struggling very small Scunthorpe side aswell and get still got a good 2.4 mill deal out of it I think it was..

The notion that we will be able to get a young hotshot in his best career form to date from a team second and in the mix for promotion and should be there or thereabouts come the end for 2.5 or even 3 I just can't see..

But the whole point is we need a goalscorer... It's something we didn't replace and it is showing. With Hooper in the team Stokes and even Commons were better for it, they have missed him. This shows Hooper wasn't just a finisher but he did do all his work in or on the edge of the box, something we don't have at the moment.

Yup! Which is funny because Miku was rated at £7m. Michu at £2.5m, I believe Swansea got him for that?

Yip. I'm sure Swansea were linked with Miku actually. We drew the short straw.
