Unfortunately the purpose of this thread is not celebrate a feel-good factor at Celtic Park.

Its purpose is to tackle the festering bullshit that seems to have found a home on these boards.

The first question I am going to ask is as tragic as it is wonderful....

Do you expect Sevco FC to crawl up your * anytime soon?

    No?

Then might I venture a guess as to the recent displeasure at all things current?

    You're bored.

Nothing more, nothing less. You've come to the sad realisation that there's "nothing left to play for/ there's nothing left to interest me"

A few months ago these boards were alight with expectation.... 3 months later we have a thread about our managers exit...

Are you guys * kidding me?

Our CL performances have been nothing short of dreadful. Our domestic football... although unbeaten, is flat, one dimensional and uninspiring.

To borrow an unpopular recent quote " Celtic are a shark in a bowl of fish fingers". So what is to be done? Sack Neil Lennon? Bring in a new manager who will shake things up? Someone like Lambert? Someone like McNamara?

Our Champions League performance this season was awful... that much is clear. But in retrospect... what it is it you all expected from the celtic?

    Wanna spend money?

Dont get me wrong... im an avid fan of the finnbogasson thread (* me he posted "You'll ever walk alone" on his twitter)... and he's mopping up in the orange league.,

    BUT....WFT guys.

    Get a grip.

Agree on the playing side of things! But the board is driving a wedge between the club and the fans!

It'd be nice to watch some exciting football for a change. There's no excuse for us not to be playing a more exapnsive game in the SPL and making use of the younger players in our squad a little more than we do.

"Celtic are a shark in a bowl of fish fingers".

Never mind these trivial issues like fines by UEFA, the banning of political banners and the fact we don't have a decent striker.

The really important question here is: Who the * eats fish fingers out of a bowl?!

If pushed to do so...you could....it is possible...although the fish fingers would get all mashed up.

Wouldn't look pretty but would get the job done.

Surely it would be much better to have them on a roll with some HP sauce?

Does this actually assume that the bowl is filled with water?

I don't know why there would be fish fingers floating in a watery bowl. But if there was no water, the shark would be no stronger than the dry fish fingers? Anyway...

I think boredom is a factor but maybe not the correct term. I think we struggle to benchmark our objectives and successes and failures against anything or anyone. Almost every team has a natural rival or a natural target to hit. We don't.

Finances have ensured that winning the title is close to 100% certain for the near future. There is simply no way of anyone challenging. Similarly the chance of us winning the champions league is near 0% for the exact same reasons. We don't have enough money to compete and the whole tournament is set up to ensure the richest clubs stay at the top. So when we all know the league is guaranteed and not winning the champions league is guaranteed, what do we aim for?

Is beating a team from Kazakhstan to qualify really how we define a successful season? If not can we really expect us to beat Barca and Milan to go one step further? And ignoring Europe altogether, can we consider domestic success to be worth anything when it is a near certainty and we spend more on one player than the total spending of every team in Scotland combined?

To me there is where the problem lies. We are in limbo.

I was thinking the same thing. People change their tune more than a * trombone fs.

people were going on months ago how good our clubs structure has been working so well, selling wanyama on for the highest transfer fee in Scottish football .. But as soon as were out of Europe or lose a game in general, this thread can be cringe worthy.

we all knew we would have very little chance of qualifying out of the group stage due to being unhappy with our departures and their replacements or in some cases no replacement (wanyama). If I'm not wrong alot of us were happy enough to bank that 20 odd million for getting into the group stages. I know we played bad but Lennon has said they are defo going to try and get some suitable players in.

just be happy we got in the group stages, got some more experience for the players and hopefully we will get some new exiting ones coming in. I have a feeling the board will buckle n spend decent $ on a striker. I hope so anyway

Although the CL campaign had been disappointing, I'm actually quite upbeat about the club. Want to see the young players given more if a chance. Want to see the new players do well, and improve.
Looking forward to the next qualification process next year.
Overall the future is positive. Dead co died! Big plus. The tribute act are running at huge losses! Big plus. Hopefully Aberdeen, Hibs or Dundee Utd with become our new rivals. Ireland have an exciting new management team. And strachan is going well with Scotland. Big plus.
And we have the pleasure next summer if England being hyped up by their fans and failing again on major tourney. Lots to look forward to.

I heard a guy on one of the Celtic podcasts and he made a very good point. Celtic need to be careful with our finances but make sure we have a strong enough team to keep getting that CL money. We now depend on getting into the CL more than ever. The Scottish league pay out is terrible which means we would have to sell our best players to keep the club running essentially. Another thing is that if rangers manage to get back into the SPFL. They will gett investers and will probably start spending crazy money they don't have. Celtic need to be prepared for this so equmulating as much money as possible when there is no competition is vital. We all know they will spend big to try and get to our quality level. The real concern our fans should be having is that our board keep being smart with the finances but at the same time balance it out with having good quality players. If we continue to keep getting into the group stages, our wage and transfer budget will go up. It has already been the case since last seasons CL campaign. Even though not all the signings are settled in yet, we still spent alot of money in the transfer market. Something like 8-10 million I think. Might be wrong on that but we are now obviously offering above our current wage structure to keep a hold of ledly because I'm pretty sure he's on the highest wage cap as it is. Its his most valuable years of his career due to his age so he obviously will want a better deal. I personally think ledly is gone. Even though Lennon keeps saying things like "his body language looks really good so I think he is happy" probably because Cardiff or some other English team has told his agent they will double what he gets here. Just my opinion obviously.

Great post which sums up literally everything that is currently wrong with Celtic - basically none of it is our own fault.

We're stuck between a rock and a hard place, but fear not folks, for the new glasgow rangers shall come up soon, the media will pretend the oldies are "back", and everything will go back to normal bliss of folk getting stabbed and the city going mental 4 times a year.

Btw, I would like to save all the posts from the disafected members on here, because I am absolutely certain none of them will be happy when Sevco come up and beat or even draw with us. Careful what you wish for, as regards Celtic.

There is no weight of expectation upon us in the CL, and anyone who treats it that way is deluded - we don't have the squads or the money of Barcelona or AC Milan. This season's campaign was a reality check that we are far off other European sides.

The main issue is more that people will be bored until next season's qualifiers. With the league a foregone conclusion and being knocked out of the League Cup, the only engaging entertainment will really come from the Scottish Cup. Unfortunately, that is the reality and we have to deal with it. At least until we have some proper competition to deal with.

The club's in a good state though and we're slowly but surely developing and bettering our squad. We could be in a much worse position than we are now.
