i know it is wrong, but the roma people do bring an awful lot of hostility and anger from people upon themselves, this is just another reason why society find it hard to let them integrate,(though they mainly do not want to),into what we presume to be a normal way of life.

Belfast has a small community of Roma, already they are not welcome in most parts of the city,,sad but true, begging is part of there way of life,it is not part of mine.
this is a situation that could get nasty and fast, how do we deal with it?
how does Glasgow,Edinburgh,Dundee or London deal with it.

Racism is,and i truly mean this, seems to raise its ugly head in protestant areas of Belfast, this week we had two HATE crime attacks on properties,is Scotland the same,or is the little bubble i live in here unique?

I had just read that story on another site. This should serve as a warning to parents on holiday to be extra vigilant with their children.

No bother. I might pop in again later if it gets silly.

I just wrote out a massive reply and then realised it wasn't worth the effort. Basically it can be whittled down to people not making judgements about an entire group of people without first studying the wider contextual issues surrounding said people, but also admitting that all my encounters with Roma gypsies in numerous countries had been negative.

But did they want to be there doing what they were doing or were they forced there by the negative stereotyping of them by society, thus not allowing them to integrate as opposed to their socialization and an unwillingness to integrate.?

There's hundreds of questions that need to be asked and answered before you can really make a statement like the first sentence in your op.

Mental, id imagine she speaks Greek now, so what if her parents are found to be Czech or something. They'd be unable to communicate and I wonder how a 4 year old could know how to learn a language when they probably dont even know what language is.

it was rather much the same for the 'chinese eating babies' topic, the sort of response I particularly resent, but there's not really much you can individually do to change the tide unfortunately.

The Roma community bring enrichment and diversity to Europe:

Racist people make them live like this.

Why target something they cannot create themselves?

I think you're generalising quite a fair bit there.

Do you think that generalising in that way may be a bit, well, wrong?

    Most certainly.

My initial post was just a repeat of a warning I was given on holiday as I had a blonde haired child. If I posted to beware of pickpockets in Barcelona it would not be taken as a slur an the Catalan people.
