Assuming we make the group stages (not the smallest of assumptions i know), would you rather we made the last 16 again and were eliminated, or dropped into the UEFA cup where I believe we are more than capable of reaching the final??

    Cheers lads

Last 16 of the CL means more than winning the UEFA cup. The UEFA cup has become such a degraded tournament and its uo until the last 4 it is a weak competition.

IMO with the current team we will not make it into the CL

And seeing that the UEFA Cup winners hardly made anything theres no point in us even being in it . Id rather we just concentrated on winning the treble and entry into nxt seasons Champions League . The UEFA Cup is the Champions Leagues ugly sister and i dont want us to be in it . With 2 or 3 new players we might just make the CL but im not holding my breath

UCL everytime. The UEFA Cup has become a waste of our time. We have to aim for UCL or face a financial backlash. That means no spendnig power which will mean a very weak squad eventually

We should make the CL as we should get a good draw. If we do not that is not acceptable and a failure. Domestic success is nice but that does not mean failure in europe is acceptable.

Too early to say. I Would obviously take UCL every time for financial reasons, however the "gulf" between Celtic entering the UCL and the rest of europe widens every year, i mean take the spending power of the top six teams so far this season we will never compete on that financial level i expect Celtic to make the group stages and thats it.

Uefa cup? well its still a european trophy (something the orange unwashed masses will never see) always worth playing for.

Deffo has to be the CL, more money for the club and it also depends who we get drawn against, hopefully we get a good run in it, this will give the bhoys a big lift. :shamrock:

We ain't gonna make it into the Champions League IMO.

1 in 3 season just isn't go enough Gord.

Thats offcourse unless we get a favourable draw.

Not going to be supriesed if we end up in Uefa cup

The second most prestigious tournament in European club football, which we have never won and have never been good enough to win, is now below us.

Anyone remember Seville ? Was that a waste of time ?

Of course not but if its a choice out of reaching the last 16 of the CL or failing in the group to drop into a weaker competition I would rather stay in the CL.

exit the CL at last 16. No matter what reaching the last 16 of the CL holds more credibility than winning the UEFA Cup.

That's your call mate, but not one I can agree with. Seville was an amazing experience and * only knows what it would have been like if we'd won. IMO going out last season in the last 16 CL didn't even come close to our UEFA Cup run.

The current team, that made it to the last 16 last year and has only lost Beattie and Lennon and has added6-7 players since then isn't good enough to get into even the groups stages anymore? Has everybody else got so much better?
