Honestly think this is a pipe dream, though stadiums are springing up all the across the country right now. I would love to see it but I think the reasons listed for this being looked upon favourably by FIFA are overstated. Will definitely depend on how well the Women's World Cup goes in '15. Not sure where the 80000 capacity stadium is going to come from though. :97:

Well there's 7 stadia over 30,00 capacity and looks like some of them could be extended. How many do you need for a world cup? 10?

I think ten yeah. There's also these two under construction right now in Hamilton and Ottawa which would meet the attendance criteria with some temporary expansion. There's also talks of a stadium being built in Halifax which would bring it to ten.

Toronto will be bidding on the 2024 Summer Olympics as well so that could possibly mean an 80000+ stadium if they win the bid, but even if they didn't, FIFA doesn't seem to have too much trouble breaking their own rules as we saw with Qatar. Still can't see this happening though as much I would like it.

Would like to see it happening myself. Always like a change and have new countries getting to host big events

I'd like this. Close enough to the US to visit and in the same time zones for television purposes, however the US would still have to go through the Hex and I believe that the competition gained from having to qualify is invaluable preparation.

Hope America bid for one soon (if you can count 2026 or whenever as soon) they certainly have the stadiums/infrastructure)

If it is a toss up between Canada, USA, Mexico and Colombia I would have to go for either Canada or Colombia.

Both have never hosted it and I feel kinda sorry for Colombia and their 1986 World Cup falling apart.

Only problem I would have with Canada hosting it is it takes 5 hours to fly from one side to the other, pain in the * following your team around.

Gulati said we won't bid again until there's more transparency as far as what FIFA is looking for.

It's fair enough. Australia are going as far as suing FIFA for compensation for the cost it took to put the bid together. Don't think they'll be bidding any time soon either.

I think it would be a good option, along with Australia. I have nothing against FIFA taking the World Cup to new footballing nations but as long at they have a good set up, decent infrastructure, enough fans to fill out grounds, and isnt a nightmare to travel to. Canada ticks all those boxes. South Africa was a bit daft in my opinion and Qatar is just lunacy (or corrupt).
