Have you ever seen him? I saw him play when he was 12 and my brother was 15, he played back then on one of the best youth teams in the country before he went to the US Residency program in Florida (which was for U17s). Nobody questioned his age then. Even at the U20s he is easily one of the smallest and one of the most youthful looking people in Canada. If anything he looks younger than 18.

Sorry if I sound like a fanboy, which I am far from, I agree there is no way he would be able to crack the starting lineup at Celtic for a while. It's just that his coaches misplayment of him and terrible surrounding cast has made people look down on him, especially being a very small kid playing in one of the biggest hackfest leagues in the world. I suspect I should bow out of this thread now

 

Itonach and fellow americans are their any rumours of him coming to scotland over in the us? And is ther any truth in the rumour of him coming to cp?

 

all the rumors I saw including the one on the us forum came from scotland but we dont exactly have all our media looking at football...let alone reporting pure rumors

 

Believe it or not, you are incorrect. His best position by far is attacking midfielder as a #10. After that he can be effective as a withdrawn striker, or an outright striker. In 3+ seasons of MLS he has shown that the wing in not where he belongs.

As for the level of MLS, if you don't take it from me, maybe you'll listen to John Spencer who was quoted as:
"MLS is a decent quality - equal to the SPL, although the Old Firm is another matter."


I don't think this will happen as Spain appears to b his preferred destination, although Nike could help it.

 

Hey all, first post although been viewing the forums for a long time.

I got family in america and i've watched adu MANY times, he would not be backup whatsoever for Celtic, adu in my opinion would walk into the Celtic team and add so much more to our improving squad. He is so direct/pacey has alot of flair and has a good cross on him, he is also more consistent than mcgeady, although baring in mind he is only 18 he has so much room for improvement and if we did sign this guy for just say under 2million. Then we would defo get that back + alot more if we eventually sell him on. I hope to * strachan makes a move for this wonderkid !!!

Glasgow. The 18-year-old USA midfielder, currently starring in the Under-20 World Cup in Canada, could meet Parkhead officials in Denver next Thursday after the Scottish champions jet in for a friendly against a Major League Soccer All-Stars select team. Richard Motzkin, Adu's LA-based agent, told the Scottish Sun: ``Celtic are coming out for the MLS All-Stars game next week and I'll be there.
``Freddy could be there if the USA get knocked out of the World Cup but for the country's sake I hope that's not the case.

It would be a good signing. markets us in the US, more $$$ and he could be a good player also.

 

It's on the Beeb website now, I'd take him I think with the right coaching he could be sensational. Him and some one to cover the full back area's and I'd be happy for the new season.

 

In th Daily Ranger, hope we get him , could we play him just behind the strikers coz we dont need another midfielder?

 

Could he not be used in a sort of Henry position? A striker that comes in from the wing rather than sit in the penalty box? The goals he scored for USA u20 against Poland made him look like a striker.

I think he could be a great signing and would also keep Lawwell happy/
